strat0124 Posted May 17, 2001 Share Posted May 17, 2001 In the olden days, we used to basically wing it, getting gigs by sheer luck and by association with folks our own age. We currently do a combo of self management and use of a local agent, and it works most of the time to our advantage. The agent really makes a difference getting more high profile shows, and alleviates all the nit-picking work necessary for a given job. We always hire out sound, so it really helps having someone line all the ducks up for you. Plus we all in our band, have great careers.....drummer is a geologist, singer is a teacher, bassist is an engineer, and I'm an electronics tech/field engineer. Our agent has the networking thing down, and has contacts from hell. So what do you guys do to keep the ball rollin?
