Groovepusher Sly Posted February 11, 2003 Posted February 11, 2003 I did it, I took the plunge, I bought an iMac (15 800MHz Superdive) to replace my desktop/graphics machine today. I will be OSX only unless its absolutely necessary, for some reason, to run classic. Im gonna look into bluetooth cell phones and PDAs and, I may finally have to pop for an iPod. The trusty ol 7100/80 will be put to use doing graphics (Sonnet G3/300) and light weight audio processing (AMII). Im reading a book called, The Manual That Should Have Been In The Box for OSX. Its very informative, so I hope my transition will be relatively painless. Ill let yall know how it goes. Sly  Whasineva ehaiz, ehissgot ta be Funky!
Cowbell Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 Yeah, that book really really helps. I just got a new eMac yesterday. Half the price of the kinda iMac you just bought. It's the G4 with 700mhz,17 inch flat screen. Amazng little thing though.

not Cereal Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 i bought a perfectly good 'puter for $19 of EBAY. you can get a pretty good g3 or g4 for not too much, couple hundred bucks maybe. of course, it may cost $1,000,000 to ship it to norway!
Joachim P. Dyndale Posted February 12, 2003 Posted February 12, 2003 I'll have a look at eBay then... $19! Wow! :) -Joachim Dyndale -------------------- Einstein: The difference between genius and stupidity is: Genius has limits My Blog...
Groovepusher Sly Posted February 12, 2003 Author Posted February 12, 2003 It came yesterday. This thing is slick! I traded 7 AC plugs for 2! (I think I may have to add one for a scanner) No more SCSI :D A giant mess of cables, GONE! :D The iMac's not making any noise. When I stood up over it I realized there is a fan blowing, but compared to the old machine and HD it's super quiet. I think I crashed OSX. I didn't see any bombs, and it didn't freeze, it just politely asked me to restart. The 15" screen blows my 15" Sony CRT away. Keyboard and mouse feel good. Reading the OSX manual ahead of time helped tremendously. Next I'm gonna install a few things, do my taxes in Quicken, archive a bunch of stuff on CD's and, clean up the room. Then it will be on to the Upgrade Brickroad. First on that list is Bias Peak and Toast. So far I'm happy. :thu: Sly  Whasineva ehaiz, ehissgot ta be Funky!
