That's gotta be a tough gig. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/contrib/owen/smash.gif Derek Trucks, you have been found guilty of being less amazing than Eric Johnson. http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/contrib/owen/smash.gif hehehehe http://cwm.ragesofsanity.com/contrib/owen/council.gif God Bless Ya KHAN Hey man how bout the Young Ones? I will email you soon. I saw Eric Play at the Majestic Theater in Dallas. He was great! His show was 3 hours of pure pedal-to-the-metal blues. He does need to do some frettin' however. All he played was slide. I dig Bernard Allison, Luther Allison's son, quite a bit too. Oh yeah, Hadden Sayers is pretty awesome too. It's hard to find a bluesman from Texas who doesn't sound exactly like Stevie Ray, but he pulls it off. I've seen Eric Sardenas, Bernard Allison, and Hadden Sayers and they're all very talented. I'd also second Eric Gales... Just heard his latest cd, and it's awesome. I recently ordered the Jay Hooks cd... the guy has the Johnny Winter vibe down and wails with authority. Raw and dirty... guitplayer I'm still "guitplayer"! michael saulnier
Gotta drag this up to the top again to give praise to... Mato Nanji of Indigenous. Saw him last Saturday night along with Chris Duarte. That was a Rockin' show. He's got an awesome blues rock tone, strats into Fender amps... Crowd went wild, the guys played great... Duarte joined Indigenous at the end for Superstition and Red House. Oh yeah! SteveRB, did you take my advice and check it out? guitplayer I'm still "guitplayer"! Glad MarkMartin chimed in. I haven't had the pleasure, but I just ran into someone connected with Hiland at a bicycle repair shop around the corner. I guess I missed Johnny at the Opry last weekend. Would have liked to check him out. (FYI, the bike shop is next door to Kitty Wells' small museum, now a studio owned by her grandson, who's a buddy. What a weird little town Nashville is!)
