Wotcher everyone........ Whassup?

Well now we have been having a jolly old time over the pond.... Foot and Mouth and bloody rain like we've never seen before. As I look over my green fields waiting for the first sign of spring, and the birds to sing, and the flowers to bloom...... hey ho.... all I see is F******ing water, and water and...... yep you guessed it more bloody water..... Geez talk about tragic http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/mad.gif GRRRRRRRR

So you sad lot, whilst I've been workin my sorry old butt off whats been happening?... Has Khan run off with my beloved Lee or has Tedster moved in with his ultimate charm and bogged off with her instead? Has Guitplayer managed to con a competition outta Lisa yet? ( I mean a competition that we can all enter before Kudyba hops in and tells me to look at MP.Com)... Has anyone got any gossip from Stateside or any of our friends in Canada or Europe?....

C'mon you guys and gals fill me in I want to know all the gory details... and in prose if ya don't mind.... None of this hip talk or grooooovy stuff need a bit of culture after the last few weeks....

Nice to be back!!

Hi everyone,

thanks for all the replies but hey, where is the prose? no ducking the issues here, oh mighty Khan, I'm looking for some serious lines of culture here...... and did I get it..... Hell no!!! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/eek.gif

Tedster

LOL I just re read it and it sure does sound like the back end of a Batman episode.... Hmmmmph ( hangs head in shame ) Doh.. and I asked for prose? http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/redface.gif It also reminds me somewhat of that epic of culture produced by our American cousins..... yep you lot made it so you're responsible..... SOAP !! hahahaha.... No getting outta that one then so we're even http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

Guitplayer

You crack me up man!

Soggy aint the word for it pal... call it deluged, drowned, rat like, immersed, sunk or any other damn expletive ya like but hell soggy is the sort of understatement that we're supposed to do http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Mile

Hey dude whassup?

No such thing as a dumb guitarist..... hmmm, did I really just write that?.. OK call those men in white coats and have done with it!! Hands up don't shoot sherriff you got me... Nice to hear from ya>

Lee

Oh... how can mere words express what sensations arise when you speak? Those velvet words of wisdom and humanity ( despite what that naughty old Tedster says about you hick southerners ha ha! ) are like cream to strawberries... Don't work too hard it just isn't good for ya http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif

I got your culture right here...

A pirate walked into a bar and the bartender said, "Hey, I haven't seen you in a while. What happened, you look terrible!"

"What do you mean? I'm fine."

"What about that wooden leg? You didn't have that before."

"Well," said the pirate, "We were in a battle at sea and a cannon ball hit my leg but the Doc fixed me up, and I'm fine, really."

"Oh yeah? Well what about that hook? The last time I saw you, you had both hands."

"We were in another battle and we boarded the enemy ship. I was in a sword fight and my hand was cut off but the Doc fixed me up with the hook, and I feel great, really."

"Oh," said the bartender, "what about that eye patch? The last time you were in here you had both eyes."

"One day when we were at sea some birds were flying over the ship. I looked up and one of them crapped in my eye."

"You're kidding," said the bartender, "you couldn't have lost an eye just from some bird crap!"

"Well, I really wasn't used to the hook yet."

Oh, I wasn't ragging on Lee for being a southerner, I was making fun of myself...like some western where the grubby looking but funny sidekick is always trying to flirt with the pretty Miss Kitty...and finally he tells her that he can't be her beau, and she kinda gives him this sad look, like "awww", but deep inside (though she's too polite to let it show) she's doing a fist pump with a big "YES!"

And you Brits have "Coronation Street", don't you? That's a bit of a soap, isn't it?

Sorry dude, didn't mean to piss you off. I know that for foreigners, catching the drift of idiomatic (whatever language) can be very frustrating, whether you're from eastern Europe using English, or a Yank learning an eastern European language. I'm sure if I were to learn your native tongue, you'd be rolling on the floor in paroxysms of howling laughter when I tripped up on some of your slang.

I can't remember the specifics, but our President Carter went to Poland years ago. He took a translator who hadn't spoken Polish in quite a while, and used some out of date phraseology that had since taken a new meaning...which turned out to be extremely embarrassing for our President. Similarly, President Kennedy flew to Berlin during the building of the Berlin wall in early 60s and uttered the phrase "Ich bin ein Berliner"...thinking he was referreing to "I am a citizen of Berlin" (indicating solidarity)...when in fact a "Berliner" was a popular type of jelly donut there at the time, so his effect was to say "I am a jelly donut".

Your English is much better than my Slavic. Rock on, dude...

Uh Oh.... ( to quote the mighty Khan ) Yep Ted I'm afraid we do ( hangs head opens up the beano and tries to look unconcerned ) http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/redface.gif Its a bloomin National Institution over here..... God knows why!! Cos its centred round a pub I should think..... Gawd Help Us http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif But whilst we're on the topic of embarrasing soaps.... Hmmmm... The A Team? Knight Rider? Baywatch ( excluding the crumpet of course)? BTW for me old mate Mile Crumpet is an english slang word for georgeous looking women..... Sighs... Soap? Cheers?...... So then Ted wotcha gotta say about that little lot then huh?....

Easy, Simon, I don't watch any of 'em...hahahaha...I'm sure you've got others. I was only aware of Coronation Street 'cause I used to live across the creek from Canada, eh? (Jolly little nudge to the Canadians on the board here)...and the Canucks are hooked on it, so it was always on Canadian TV.

Mmmm...tea and crumpets...lends a whole new meaning to the phrase. Now I know why you Brits are so hooked on that institution! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

yes we do have some other really crappy soaps.... So for the cultural benefit of you all here are some of the worst..... Avoid these like the plague when you're over here!! http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/redface.gif

Eastenders

Peak Practice

Cross Roads

Neighbours ( sorry in advance to any of our Austrailian Cousins )

And, of course, it goes without saying that I NEVER EVER watch any of these soaps!!! but did ya hear that.......
