mesabplayr
Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Solo Head 100 watt. It was either that or a Marshall JCM 900. Ialso auditioned a VHT Pitbull, but it was too expensive at the time (5 yrs. ago) YES, I would definitely, MOST definitely, buy it today.Killer rich distortion at low volumes, beautiful fluid top end. Played through a 2- 12 cab loaded w/ Celestion Vintage 30's, it's hard to beat, though I love Marshall's dearly.I wanted something a little different, that's why I went with Mesa.... strat0124
Love all your amps, but my question is, where can you seriously play a 100 watt anything turned up loud enough to get sweet? Unless you are using attenuation and/or playing large clubs or greater? I used to be into the 100 watts or greater amps in my younger days, but unless you are playing arena's.....I can't see the benefits. Just my pennies worth. Down like a dollar comin up against a yen, doin pretty good for the shape I'm in

Dylan
I'm using a Tech 21 Trademark 10 combo. 10 Watts, 8" speaker, DI output, and great tone! Don't laugh until you play one. I'm going to get the extended 60-watt powered cabinet for it a bit later. -Dylan
mesabplayr
Believe me when I tell ya...I get KILLER tone at low volume, with my Dual Rectifier..A '76 Les Paul helps with any sustain problems..DiMarzio FRED pickups round out the equation....IMO, pickups are the most important.. Tedster
Well, Strat, I was poking fun at myself, I just bought a 100 watt Marshall combo, so I expect I'll be joining the Pete Townshend Beltone Club anytime now. Actually, it's not funny at all. My Mom was quite hard of hearing. Seemed to run in her side of the family...her mother was hard of hearing as well. Neither one of them ever listened to rock and roll (except my Mom in my younger days when I'd bring the guys over and jam in the back room). And the damn prices for hearing aids...I could buy a TLM 103 for the price of a hearing aid. You'd think with all the pocket stereo technology someone could come up with a nice apparatus that looked like a walkman for an eighth of the price. coyote
Fender Princeton 30watt tube amp thru its own 12" and an additional 4x12 cab. I used to run a Marshall Major 200W thru two 4x12s, but none of my playing situations call for that anymore - as it only gets proper distortion at *incredibly* high volume. I now use it for my Hammond organ. BTW, I *always* use a 4x12 cab w/ whatever amp I'm using. It really fills out the tone - makes a small amp sound big. I used to think I was Libertarian. Until I saw their platform; now I know I'm no more Libertarian than I am RepubliCrat or neoCON or Liberal or Socialist. This ain't no track meet; this is football.
