Lee Flier
Well, I'm actually a lefty. But I probably "don't count", because I play guitar righty! --Lee

lrbreez
Paul McCartney is a righty who plays lefty. He may be ambidextrious. He's got a nice, mint '59 left-handed Les Paul. Buddy
aframe9999
I'm a lefty but learned to play righty. (Strat with a humbucker in the bridge) In fact I don't think I could play left handed. Of course i'm screwy anyway. I swing a bat lefty, but play golf righty. I play drums righty too but I write, eat, brush teeth etc with my left. I'm not ambidextrious at all. I just learned golf, guitar, and drums right handed. Just wierd, i guess.
THOR_dup2
Steve Morse is another "lefty" playing "righty." By the way, how do you southpaws feel about the lack of lefty guitars out there? It must be a pain to go shopping for a new axe with so little to choose from in the stores.

trick fall
It is a pain to find a good lefty guitar though Fender is generally the best about coming out with the lefties. I think Leo even insisted on making a lefty of every model. I have as many amps as I do guitars (5) cause they're a lot easier to find.
Lee Flier
Yeah, I am seriously glad that I don't play lefty because of my serious vintage guitar snobbery. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/biggrin.gif If I had to go out and find lefty models of all the guitars I own... boy that would suck. Tell you what freaks me out though: Bobby Womack plays lefty by taking a righty guitar and just turning it upside down. NOT stringing it upside down, I mean he plays the chords upside down. Now that's freaky! But very handy - no lefty guitars necessary! 'Course I found it much easier just to play righty and have done with it. http://www.musicplayer.com/ubb/smile.gif Frankly I don't get why righties play the way they do - to me, you need more coordination in your left hand anyhow. --Lee
Eric Worthington
As a left-hander, somewhere along the line in life you must accept that we live in a right-handed world. (Buncha goddamn right-handed freaks....) And so, just as I learned as a child to use right-handed scissors (the left-handed scissors always sucked, and when you went to someone else's house, all they'd have were right-handed, and even at my own house, the "good" scissors were always going to be right-handed.) When I first decided to learn guitar, I was very conscious of the crucial decision I had to make: left, or right. And I realized that if I played lefty, I could never pick up someone else's guitar and play it, and the stores would have 99% righty. There is, of course, no "right" way to play, but if I were advising someone just learning, I'd say just make life easier and go along with how all the freaks do it. trick fall
Yeah, I mean people told me to learn to play the wrong way, but every time I picked up a guitar I picked it up upside down. Oh and Lee there's a bunch of people who play righty guitars left handed. I just saw an incarnation of the English Beat and that's how the singer (Dave Wakeling I think) was playing. Jeff H.
I'm a lefty who plays guitar left handed(who would have thought???). Most of the guitars I own are Fenders including a '62 reissue Strat, Tele Custom, Jazz Bass(all sunburst) , a Danelectro '56 U2(Commie Red), a DC Bass(Silver Sparkle), a Gibson J-160E, and a '62 Hofner 500/1 Beatle Bass reissue. BK_dup2
I feel for you left hand guys everytime I see a left handed guitar - it's atleast a couple hundred more bucks than the right hand equivalent. Cheers BK
