Throatsinger Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 I think there was a thread here a while back about jobs and the lack thereof, but I couldn't find it. Lotsa stories about it being darkest right before dawn, etc... I'd been out of work for a while, getting ready to walk the economic plank, as it were, to the point of getting rather concerned. But the other day I got a call asking me to manage Huun-Huur-Tu, one of the coolest world music bands on the planet. We'll be gone all of March, cris-crossing the US/Canada/Mexico. Should be a total gas (they're dear buds of mine) and get me outa this hole, at least for a while. Steve Sklar/Big Sky Steve Sklar http://khoomei.com http://www.bigskyrocks.com

Skip_dup1 Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 sorry to hear about the hassles. I grew up in Minneapolis, always considered it a bit of a haven from the worst of the economic blight.
Rick K. Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 I was watching the news this morning. Supposed to only be 5 degrees F there today....Burr!!! Congrats on the new gig!
jackpine Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 Steve... you should let us all know where your going to be playing. Either post it here or give us a URL. I'd be really interested to hear these folks. www.relayerstudios.com
fantasticsound Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 Yes! I'd love to hook up if you come to Nashville. BTW, where in Minneapolis are you? My bro lives in St. Louis Park. I'll have to ask him about the band you'll be managing. Congratulations signed, Still looking for a gig. It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
Throatsinger Posted February 11, 2003 Author Posted February 11, 2003 Heh, by hole I meant the financial one, not Mpls. ;) It's not a local band, rather one of the coolest world music outfits going. Huun-Huur-Tu are from Tuva, in Siberia just NW of Mongolia. Lots of CDs, including collabs with the Bulgarian Women, Zappa, Ry Cooder and others. Their website is at http://www.huunhuurtu.com The tour schedule thus far is posted at my khoomei website: http://khoomei.com . along with some videos, etc. Steve Sklar http://khoomei.com http://www.bigskyrocks.com
