About Vista

The problem with MS Windows is that every new OS offers less and less options to the user in terms of configuration or when something goes wrong, and more and more automatic obligatory nonsense.

For example, up to Windows ME, one could always use DOS in case of a disaster crash and still "open certain doors" in order to repair the OS and avoid complete reformatting. Try to do this now with XP and soon Vista. Fine if the OS can repair itself, but too bad if it can't.

It's like : the newer the OS, the stupider MS think the users are, so the more automatic obligatory nonsense there is. The new ridiculous protection stuff mentioned in your article doesn't surprise me a bit.
