not coaster MODERATOR Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Lately when I download audio samples of gear I get the message requiring OSx. Don't you think these guys would know that much of their client base is still stuck with os9? I suppose I can use my daughter's new iBook if I need to hear samples.
Brakka Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Do you have an example link? Were they QuickTime encoded? I'm on OS9 too. I'm not sure if this is the same thing, but something happened when I listened to your (Coaster's ;) ) mp3 in DanSouth's thread "When was the last time you posted an mp3?" (that song will be stuck in my head forever). I could listen to it, but it didn't open up a big window (in IE) as usual- just a small QT player. And I couldn't download to disk as usual (with the button in the lower-right corner of the QT player). "Save as..." gets the message "cannot save, disk may be full (it ain't). No OSX message though. I have done no software updates recently.

Mostly out of ignorance. What I mean is that the only files that are like this are those that were created within an authoring/encoding program that was OSX-basedd, and the creators didn't bother to do a down-saved version of the viddeo or MP3. So far, everything on our sites are fine for use in OS 9.x. I, personally, haven't upgraded either my work or home puters with OS X (I do have it on both, but I boot to OS 9 since all of my expensive software is still in that mode). - Jeff Marketing Communications for MI/Pro Audio My solo music and stuff They Stole My Crayon
