KHAN Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 This is a really cool Logic 6 NAMM Demo video stream in Real format. CLICK ME. Just click where it says : 'Phil shows off Logic 6.0 ' So Many Drummers. So Little Time...
Philip OKeefe Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Phil's a nice guy and very talented. I looked at the video, and there's a few nice new things in Logic 6, but am I really interested? Not really - they discontinued Logic for PC! Would I be interested if they sold it for PC's again? Maybe - but after what they did to their loyal PC users, I'd have a hard time trusting them - or Apple - ever again. :p Thanks for the link "oh great and mighty Khan". :)
Alndln Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 It did look nice, but the only thing I'm missing is the "Freeze CPU" feature(really nice :thu: )and the one thing he didn't demonstrate, the I/0 pluging that lets you route hardware in your inserts like a plugin. After my next CPU upgrade I'll probably stop thinking about those 2 things.Nice demo though. "A Robot Playing Trumpet Blows"
Dan South Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 Hmm. I don't have Real Conspiracy, so I can't play the demo, but I will say that Phil Jackson is a great guy, and in fact, he's the guy who taught ME how to use Logic. About a week after I bought the program, I stumbled into Manny's and asked a question about MIDI interfaces, because I could get Logic up and running on my old Opcode Studio 5. The Manny's guy said, "Oh, the Emagic demo guy is here today. Why don't you ask HIM?" Phil was totally enthusiastic and took it upon himself to drop everything and explain the workings of Logic to Dan Q. Nobody for the next twenty minutes. He could not have been nicer or more helpful if I'd been Stevie Wonder or Billy Joel. Plus, in that half hour, he showed me things that it would have taken me a YEAR to figure out on my own. Man, what a great teacher! Phil, if you're out there, thanks a million for your help that day!! Way too cool!!! :thu: The Black Knight always triumphs!
Dylan Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003
Originally posted by Dan South: Hmm. I don't have Real Conspiracy, so I can't play the demo
That's right, Dan! Fight the man :thu: , at least the virtual one :D . I also will NEVER install any Real product ever again after finding out that the product is spyware.
Dylan Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 The demo does in fact look cool, but I just can't get over the whole "envirornment" thing in Logic. My very talented Bavarian friends Thorsten and Joergl use Logic exclusively and have done some amazing music with it. If I ever get a Mac again I'll be sure to check it out. Does anyone know if Logic 6 is going to support Digi hardware?
Philip OKeefe Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 The Environment is a very powerful, but somewhat confusing feature for new users. But it's not as bad as you might think - As a matter of fact, Dan South did an excellent tutorial over on David Franglioni's site... I bet he can provide a link for you - that makes it a 30 minute, quick and easy setup for you. :)
Dylan Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 I'll have to look for that tutorial by Dan then. Thanks for the heads up, Phil! I'm pretty cozy with Sonar at the momement, but I always like to see what the competition is offering.
StoneKnife Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 As Mr. Phil stated, after giving the PC-ers the brush, even reopening their products to (us) would perhaps not be enough. I've moved on to other stuff. "We are the Federales... You know, the Mounted Police..." ---"If you're the police, where are your badges?" "Bodges?..."
Geoff Grace Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 (Please note: Most of you know me as soapbox, but this post is under my real name.)
Originally posted by Pain in the Glaven: Does anyone know if Logic 6 is going to support Digi hardware?
I'm almost certain that it will. In fact, I believe that Logic Audio is the only program besides Pro Tools that supports both TDM and native processing at the same time. This ability, coupled with the new Marquee Tool , makes Logic Audio 6.0 the first version of Logic in a long time that I will probably use a lot. In fact, the Marquee Tool makes up for what was for me a fatal flaw in the program. However, YMMV. Best, Geoff My Blue Someday appears on Apple Music | Spotify | YouTube | Amazon

Joachim P. Dyndale Posted February 6, 2003 Posted February 6, 2003 I would've loved to see that video clip, but as it's in Real Player format there's no way I'm gonna bother. Besides the spyware stuff: It's the worst app ever made, just behind Chickensys Translator. A truly disgusting app. I wish people would post such things in several formats, or at least not in Real format.... -Joachim Dyndale -------------------- Einstein: The difference between genius and stupidity is: Genius has limits My Blog...
