How high the keyboard should be

Recommended Posts

Well, I use a 76 keyboard, and then a 61 keyboard. The problem is, I think the 76 keyboard is a bit too low, and then 61 keyboard is way too high up on it's stand.

Can anybody give me an idea on where the keyboard should approximately be, and give me some types on adjusting the height?

Casio WK 3200: $250.00

Behringer Ultratone FX900: $180.00

Roadrunner bag: $40.00

Intrument cable: $25.00

Radioshack Stand: $10.00

Rocking out of the cheapest equipment you can find: priceless.

How long is a piece of string?

There is no single answer to your question.

1) You don't specify whether you play sitting or standing.

2) You don't mention what types of stands your keyboards are on.

One person's answer isn't necessarily right for you. Eric's settings may be completely wrong if he's 8" taller than you are, for example.

You can read this web presentation on The Ergonomics of Piano Playing to understand the idea behind proper positioning, then apply that to your specific situation.

Good luck.

How much do I love you?

I'll tell you no lie

How deep is the ocean?

How high is the sky?

How many times in a day

Do I think of you?

How many roses are

Sprinkled with dew?

How far would I travel

Just to be where you are?

How far is the journey

From here to a star?

And if I ever lost you

How much would I cry?

How deep is the ocean?

How high is the sky?

In general, harmonic complexity is inversely proportional to the ratio between chording and non-chording instruments.

You're bound to get smart ass replies with a question like this. (I'm refraining)

No one can tell you the answer to your question.

You have to play around with different heights until you are comfortable. Maybe you need stands that are adjustable with smaller incremental values.

I've always found the perfect height on all my keyboard stands with the help of a good drill.
