Gtoledo3
The band's bass player was obviously not playing what was being heard... who knows about the rythm guitars. From seeing the way the bass player flailed away, he probably never played the parts! So, I guess we are in a new era of rock bands. These guys are even punk! Want mix/tracking feedback? Matt.Hepworth
I just heard 'em and I don't think they're a bit different from anyone else. Probably piped in all but vox. Just my opinion, though. No matter how good something is, there will always be someone blasting away on a forum somewhere about how much they hate it. x factor music
saw this band on conan....what made this band jump out of the masses and become the next green happy punk eats world smiley face drink coke and buy sunny d band? i really don't know, in a sea of fairly talented genre bands, what it is that makes one jump out of the pack and be the next thing...by the way, you can sing the bridge of "praise chorus" over top of simple plan's bridge and it fits perfectly. so if it was all mutlitrack playback, big snore. i must say it looked real on conan, at least the singer did, cause it was obvious he was having monitor problems. jeremeyhunsicker.com
Gtoledo3
The singer was singing, and I think the drummer was playing to the multitrack- on Kimmel. I wonder if these guys were "Bitchslap"? Want mix/tracking feedback? D_dup3
Kinda OT but I love those rock bassists who get a 5 or 6 string...then play the entire tune using only 4 positions on one or two strings. Oh, & all down 1/8th note down-strokes. :freak: With the bass banging their knees. There, I said it---I'm all better now! :D
Steven Denike
For an even less 'live' gig, I read on Ars-Technica today about Total Request Live through Clear ~ Channel . . . eventually, you won't even need a host! Total Request (not really) Live One of the most eerily twisted things I read all week was this article in the NYT that uncovers the odd, Phillip K. Dick-esque details of the makings of Clear Channel's syndicated "Carson Daly Most Requested" radio program. Here's the setup: Imagine tuning in to a weekly radio show, say in New York, DJ'd by MTV's TRL host Carson Daly, that counts down the top hits that were requested the most by callers to various NYC radio stations. Now imagine flying to L.A. and hearing the same show a day or two later, except this time it's an L.A. version that counts down a different list of the top ten requests in the L.A. market. If some of the artists on the two lists were the same, you probably heard some of the same jokes and gossip about them, even though they occupied different spots on each list. You could, in fact, hop to different major markets around the country, and you'd hear the same syndicated show, with the same Carson Daly, doing a localized program tailored to each market's top ten list. Such a show does indeed exist, but seeing as how there's only one Carson Daly, and he has only a finite amount of time each week to record radio shows, you may wonder how Clear Channel manages to pull this off. The answer is a huge database of Carson Daly voice samples--words, phrases, names, jokes, etc.--that a team of sound engineers use to construct a "local radio show," customized for each market. Carson Daly does spend a few hours a week recording new content for the database, but you'd be surprised at just how deep the artifice runs. That has not always gone smoothly. Mr. Dunston, the sound designer, said that at one point a new Michael Jackson song, "You Rock My World," unexpectedly showed up on the charts. Mr. Daly was unavailable that day, and because he had never introduced a song by Mr. Jackson, the engineers had to dig through old recordings to find a segment in which he made an offhand reference to the singer. Then they hunted down bits of the song title and assembled all the pieces. "We had to cobble things together," Mr. Dunston said. None of this sleight-of-hand is revealed to listeners, who think they're hearing a weekly radio show recorded by Daly especially for their market. Furthermore, Clear Channel has gone to some trouble to keep the true nature of the show under wraps. It's all kind of sick and cynical, in my opinion, and some trade groups that represent radio talent agree with me. But the difference between me and the DJ's union is that I'd be much more comfortable with it if the artifice were fully disclosed by the stations that carry the show. But this would defeat the purpose, so it won't happen. the full article is on the N Y Times website, at http://www.nytimes.com/2003/02/03/technology/03DALY.html?pagewanted=
