Laurie Z.
There's been quite a lot of talk on this Forum about the loss of our individual liberties and the consequences, both short and long term. I'd like to recommend one of my favorite books to you all. A friend turned me on to this book several years ago, and I've gifted quite a few people with it. The quotes at the top of each page are worth the meager $10 for the book by themselves, and the concepts contained within should be required reading for anyone who considers themselves at all politically savvy. The book is called "Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do" by Peter McWilliams, and it's available on amazon.com at the following address: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/09 31580587/qid=1044131055/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/103-6443930-9817423?v=glance&s=books Don't know if that showed up as a hotlink, but regardless...I strongly recommend everyone check this book out. The entire text is also available for to view free on McWilliam's site, but you need to buy this book - at $10, it's a bargain. I've been keeping this book handy and reading relevant parts throughout the last few years, but never before has it seemed so timely as right now. Wishing *us all* the best, lz (and yes, if I can figure out how to replace my avatar one of these days, I'll do it!) :p www.lauriez.com

TBush
While we're at it, let's all check out the book Whatever Happenred to Penny Candy?, by Richard Maybury, or Economics in One Lesson, by Henry Hazlett. Great stuff- encourages personal responsibility, free market, libertarianism, etc... http://www.tbushrecording.com
whitefang
Personal responsibility? You mean, NOT blaming someone else for what YOU do wrong? Being accountable for your own actions? That sounds almost UN-AMERICAN! If you're not careful, someone might try teaching their CHILDREN that concept! Worse yet, PARENTS might get into it, too! Lawd-a-mighty! Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
Jotown
Yeah, I am very familliar with the work of Peter McWilliams. His thoughts are always very provocative. If only logic could really be that simple....... Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
