Midimonk Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 The last coupla days have been like molasses,i know about that "slammer" worm but most sites i goto are fine. Most forums oddly, are the culprits as opposed to sites themselves.anybody else? I cannot be bought, and I cannot be threatened. But if you put them both together then I'm your man!"
whitefang Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Actually, for me, if it wasn't for the ability to e-mail family members I rarely get a chance to see, to read and share ideas with the fine, upstanding people in these musicplayer forums(yes, I've tried others, and FEW compare), and often instant messaging with my daughter, who sends me some cool files sometimes, I really wouldn't HAVE any use for the iNet. Especially for something stupid, like SHOPPING on it!(Flamesuit is ON!) Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!
Jotown Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Everything has been slow for me since Saturday. My hub must have gotten hit by the hack. Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
Joe McDonough Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 It it probably the Slammer virus released from Asia last weekend. You can check out stories about it on many news sites. Joe McDonough Music Player Network
phaeton Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Could be the slammer worm still wreaking a bit of havoc.. not like before, but some nonetheless. What kind of speeds to do connect at, and does it drop the connection much? If it is a Windows machine (particularly 9x or ME) check your TCP/IP settings to make sure it didn't disable DNS, and that the Primary Network Logon is "Client For Microsoft Networks" instead of "Windows Logon". Of course, the above only applies to dialup. Dr. Seuss: The Original White Rapper . WWND?
Rim Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 Slammer worm traffic has subsided for now. ISPs may still be dealing with the aftermath but I expect the Internet to return to "normal" next week. Unless something else pops up. Let's keep our fingers crossed. aka riffing Double Post music: Strip Down http://rimspeed.com http://loadedtheband.com
Soundcrafter Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 I noticed the slow down a couple nights ago...that was probably it. Thanks for the heads up. "If you're flammable and have legs, you are never blocking a fire exit. Unless you are a table." -Mitch Hedberg
Jeff Klopmeyer Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 Interesting...I haven't seen any perceptible speed difference, but I'm looking on T1 at work and DSL at home. I suppose which ISP you have (and the sites you visit have) would be a big factor. - Jeff Marketing Communications for MI/Pro Audio My solo music and stuff They Stole My Crayon
not coaster MODERATOR Posted February 1, 2003 Posted February 1, 2003 My ATT cable was slow as ice so I used my dial-up last week. It's good to have a backup. I keep myAccess4less dialup activated at $6.00/month.
Midimonk Posted February 1, 2003 Author Posted February 1, 2003 I'm on charter cable,it's moving better today, never had issues until recently. It's good to have back-up, but i'm hopelessly addicted to speed so if it slows it's time to go do something else.
