not Cereal Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 who knows about O F? in my constant research about all things mac and pc related i have found that many of these server drives i have in my machine and other's machines require a "START UNIT" command. a mac does not normally give this command, but it looks like it may be possible to do this in OF. i've been researching this specific route long enough to think its possible but not easy. in fact, i havent yet tooled around with OF because i thought my machine didnt have it, but everything i have read today says for sure my machine does. OF is like your "BIOS" for you PC knuckleheads!

Obviously the "start command" is the equivalent to a boot sector,just called something else.In a PC bios you can choose wether to boot from the OS,CD rom or whatever and also make sector settings ect.,or just set it to auto.What exactly is your problem? Salyphus Posted January 31, 2003 Posted January 31, 2003 You can boot into Open Firmware by restarting your Mac and holding down Command + Option + O + F It's not really the kind of thing you want to mess around with if you don't know what you're doing though.
