OT - That new Levi's Commercial...

Recommended Posts

Holy cow, have you ever seen a more stupid, more terribly done commercial?!?! And the 'actors' - probably the ugliest people I've seen in a long time. I want to burn my Levi's now.

Was kinda GLAD to see the ugly models, man. I can relate to them better than the "chippendales" usually used. So can probably 90% of consumers! But of course, it didn't make the commercial any less stupid, eh? Whitefang
I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!

They should not be considered normal. Well, unless Levi's is just making fun of models! ;) That would rule. Highly unlikely though. Normal people should look like normal people, not ugly models IMHO.

Apparently, it was made by the daughter of a friend of my soon-to-be-mother-in-law. She pointed it out specifically during the Super Bowl... And it isn't that they are just not attractive people. It's like they were trying to find people that closely resemble models, but for whatever reason they just look weird and unnattractive, rather than model-like. And the commercial sucks, too.

We were just deriding this commercial again tonight. The only redeeming value of it is my 4 year old likes watching the Bison stampede. :D It left me wondering, "Why?" I don't think it will sell the Levi's-attempts-to-be-Jordache-25-years-too-late jeans, and, so far, no one I know likes the...er.. artistic statement either.

Simply being discussed in the wake of the Superbowl. Had it not been thrust into that spotlight, I highly doubt anyone would have given it a second thought. And as I mentioned, my opinion is it isn't going to sell jeans. It'll be scrapped after this quarter is up. They won't want to spend any more money on residuals for this dog.

Levi's had a least one recent Super Bowl spot that was outstanding. It featured a guy walking with "crazy legs" moving all over the place, but his upper body moved calmly. The buffalo stampede spot was really disappointing. Then again, there were no truly amazing spots this year. Even the Bud spot with the zebra would not have been as strong if not for the blown calls in recent games. The spot was created in early fall before the officiating controversies occurred.
