I Am Having A Stupid Day!

RRR! its "one of those stupid days" today. i had to transfer a recording into pro tools, a 57 minute cd-r of a live wind band concert. it did NOT go well. neither of my cd-drives would read the disc. it is an audio disc, not a data disc. they burned it direct from microphones to cd-burner. i HATE that! so one of my cd-drives would just lock up the computer when i inserted the disc. total crash. so i used my burner to read the disc and that didnt go much better. it sounded really hashy, harsh, even distorted with too much 300hz range. AND i couldnt even use it because there were large chunks of audio missing filled in by 100% full code garbage. also, none of my cd-players would play the disc any better. finally, i found that my phillips DVD player would play the disc without problems. so i hooked it up to protools via spdif and got signal into protools, but protools would NOT chase the clock on the DVD player! total failure that way. i ended up setting the clock source to "internal" in pro tools and praying that it would work. it did. it took 5.5 hours to transfer this stupid disc after all is said and done. it should have taken 15minutes, and i should be done with it. did i mention that it doesnt sound good? :evil: mics are too far back in the room :evil: :evil: SO THEEEEEN,,,,,,,,,, there is a mixup by UPS, and they delivered my package to the wrong address. i bought two new fast scsi drives (i'll have 100GB of scsi pretty quick here - maybe) before rehearsal i checked the tracking info on the internet and it said "DELIVERED" well i was here waiting all day as i was getting pissed at the transfer situation and NO UPS MAN. tracking info said someone signed for it, but its not my name. after rehearsal i got home and theres a message from ups on my machione. i hadnt called them. it said to call them back before tenpm. i called them- they dont know anything about it, dont know where it was delivered, basically dont know anything. those drives aint cheap folks! i am gonna go drink beer. or ten. i wish i had some nachos, all i have is venison jerky. yum :love:
