Rick K. Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 What did you think of the Super Bowl ads?? Personally, I thought the Michael Jordan Gatorade was pretty amazing. Thought the Dodge sucked. Am so tired of the Osbornes. Rick
Botch. Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 What the heck was up with Cadillac?!? Their long ad during the second half (the time warp one on the subway) was excellent. But the earlier one with the guy choking in the drivers seat, while the driver does an acceleration/hard braking Heimlich maneuver, resulting in chewed food all over the windshield, was using MTV/Tom Green/preteen humor to sell to Cadillac's aging baby-boomer audience!?!? WTF? :freak: :freak: I did enjoy the Clydesdales/zebra ad, though! :D Botch "Eccentric language often is symptomatic of peculiar thinking" - George Will www.puddlestone.net
rdpete Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 most were average... I liked the Office Linebacker, and the girlfriends mom with the huge ass.. The Brown Noise is believed to be ninety-two cents below the lowest octave of E flat..

WTF? :freak: :freak:
That was a Dodge Truck spot. So, not only did you not like the commercial, you couldn't remember who paid $2.2 million to run it! Here are my takes from a post over on Keyboard Corner. My favorites: - Willie Nelson for H&R Block. I didn't even need to see the commercial, because the premise alone is that funny. One of the few spots that was entertaining AND sold something. Far and away my favorite. - FedEx "Cast Away" spot. Great parody. - Bud spot with the guy putting the "dreadlocked" Puli on his head. Worst: - Dodge Trucks spot with the guy hurling on the windshield, and the Monster.com "Runaway truck" spot. Others: The Gatorade "Jordan vs. Jordan" was technically excellent, but not groundbreaking. Personally, the Pepsi/Osbournes spot was great, but received so much pregame press & hype that seeing it in the game wasn't exciting. The Diet Pepsi "father and son in the mud" spot and the Siera Mist spot with the monkeys were both good, but not great. I wonder if Alana Davis' cover of "Carry On" will sell. Sony included in the spot the URL for buying a copy.
Rick K. Posted January 27, 2003 Author Posted January 27, 2003 That Zebra thing was indeed, great! I also liked the FedEx and Willie ones, too. Rick
Abnorm Posted January 27, 2003 Posted January 27, 2003 I liked the guy sticking the beer bottle in his butt and then asking for a hot dog ... the bartender says, "NO!" :D Also the monkey jumping into the polar bear pool.

That does point out a major flaw for a lot of commercials, you can't really remember what the hell they were trying to sell in the first place. Speaking of which, does anyone yet know what that small black rocket does???? :D Botch "Eccentric language often is symptomatic of peculiar thinking" - George Will www.puddlestone.net

That was the problem with the Reebok "Terry Tate, Office Linebacker" spot. Everyone remembered the commercial, hardly anyone made the connection with an athletic shoe. Come to think of it, there wasn't any connection, was there? Nike had their "streaker at the soccer match" spot in the NFC & AFC Championships, avoided the Super Bowl, and kicked Reebok's ass again. Naked guy, runs fast and avoids stadium security, wears Nike Shox. Touchdown.
JDL Posted January 28, 2003 Posted January 28, 2003 I think the Cadillac car looks so sweeeeeeeet, but the commercial got old. I liked the Budweiser ones, but they weren't as impacting as the frog ones. I thought the Gatorade one was cool. Peace, JDL JDL on Purevolume Bird\'s Eye View on Purevolume

I also laughed at the Willie Nelson for H&R Block, FedEx "Cast Away" spot, and the Zebra with the horses spot. Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
surfmonkey Posted January 28, 2003 Posted January 28, 2003 Yeah the clown one was the best. :thu: I also liked the Willie Nelson and the Castaway spots too. I have no homepage.
