mitchhermanyahoo.com Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 Does anybody remember what the model number(s) were for the old Otari 1" - 8-Track Multi Track Decks were? Thanks!
Nawor Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 I had an Otari MX7300 1" 8-track. It was a 7.5/15ips machine. HUGE/FAT/WARM etc. :) Made my Tascam 58 sound like a transistor radio! :( Cost me $1800 AUD ($950 USD) about ten years ago. Looks like this... Otari MX7300 The main problem was its transport which was a bit rough on the tape. Especially the brakes (somewhat grabby). The later machines were gentler on the tape with their smarter transport electronics (tape tension control etc) Still, the MX7300 sounded great! :thu: You should be able to pick one up even cheaper these days... unless they've become collectors items too! Mats Olsson. Posted January 26, 2003 Posted January 26, 2003 I bet it would make a nice 2-track deck... a new headstack, perhaps new amplifiers? Oh, gear lust! /Mats http://www.lexam.net/peter/carnut/man.gif What do we want? Procrastination! When do we want it? Later!
mitchhermanyahoo.com Posted January 27, 2003 Author Posted January 27, 2003 Thanks for the number from down under.
