sbrock1san.rr.com Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 Since very few on this board have even heard a fraction of the 40-or so albums Phil has played on this is a stupid poll. Steve's a better singer but Phil is a better drummer. I do believe Steve was a drummer before he was a singer- I think I remember that from the VH1's Behind The Music on Journey. That was a good one because that band hates each other. :) Kind of like the way I hate Hank the Cave Peanut for beating a dead horse. :freak:

Tedster Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 You've been putting shrooms on your nachos again, Coaster. I'd rather hear Collins, I guess, but Genesis era Collins. If I had to be executed, would I rather die by being strapped in a chamber and hearing "Sussudio" over and over again, or "When the lights go down in the Citay"? Electrocution, definitely. Besides, Journey kind of sucked.
Salyphus Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 I'm no Phil Collins fan but I think he's waaay more talented than Perry. Just look at the range of projects he's been involved in. I would even say he has a better voice.
Dan South Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 Things Steve Perry has never done - - played drums with a world-class fusion group - co-led a successful prog rock band - released a solo album that made the world rethink its drum sounds - acted in a Beatles movie - sung the theme song to a hit movie - acted the lead role in a movie - poked good-natured fun at his goofy looks - flew the Concorde in order to perform in two hemispheres on the same day Phil RULEZ!!! :D :thu: The Black Knight always triumphs!
KHAN Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 Phil's drumming on early Genesis and Brand X, and his *(amazing)* singing on the first three post Gabriel Genesis albums far eclipse Steve Perry's body of work. HOWEVER: As a solo artist he has put out hours and hours of lame, sappy uninspired dreck. So I voted for Steve. :freak: So Many Drummers. So Little Time...
x factor music Posted January 23, 2003 Posted January 23, 2003 despite the fact that phil collins is all around a far more talented musician and artist than steve perry, i must vote for steve perry, for the same reasons as khan mentioned. jeremeyhunsicker.com

strat0124 Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Phil Collins hands down. Listen to Wind and Wurthering, Steve Perry couldn't find that kind of creativity with Einstein on his back. Though they are both pop now, Phil could revert to greatness, Steve is stuck in bubblegum land. :) Down like a dollar comin up against a yen, doin pretty good for the shape I'm in

DWBass Posted January 24, 2003 Posted January 24, 2003 Steve Perry barely made a dent in the business. Phil Collins will most surely be voted into the Rock & Roll Hall of fame with AND without Genesis!! Nuff said! www.myspace.com/thefunkfather
