Cowbell Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 Anybody read the story about the 56 year old guy that waited in line for a few hours only to get rejected because he was too old? He's suing them now.
BNC Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 The last time, a guy that was 29 made it to the last 30, but was kicked off for being too old. Pretty lame, if the guy is good it shouldn't matter. but we know who is calling the shots on this one (sleezy record execs)

By the way, anyone here sign up for the chance to be in the upcoming Kelly and Justin movie? Robert This post edited for speling. My Sweetwater Gear Exchange Page
Felix_dup1 Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 As for the 56 year old guy, I'd have to have heard him sing. If you look at last years' concert grosses, it appears that 56 year olds made more money than 20 year olds - but breaking a new 56 year old act in today's market would certainly prove more challenging than marketing the likes of last years' top grossing acts. NOTE: Even if you didn't like American Idol last year, the first couple of weeks (and especially the first episode) is the BEST SHOW OF THE SEASON! Why? It's when the loser vocal gymnasts who are convinced that they're the Next Big Thing get their reality check. And some of the auditions are absolutely ROTFLMAO funny!

Yet, somehow, my gut tells me that this would really take off, and would be the next big wave in music marketing. Not that it would be bad, just that it would be so unexpected. I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
Jotown Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 I am boycotting American Idol. I am starting my own show: "American Idol-Bald Guys!" To enter you have to be over 40, bald, play an instrument, and the songs you perform have to be your own original material. patrick_dont_fret Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 Jotown, if you want us over at your old peoples' porn site, just ask. But don't try to send us over there thinking we're going there for something interesting...

BNC Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 I too love watching the first few shows of American Idol. While I don't agree with the concept of it, its too damn funny. I especially like the ones that put more effort in the choreography, thinking that it will hide their dreadful singing. Simon is just a pure riot. When he says somehting like "Your incredible!" then follows with "incredibly bad" you can see the very second when the kid's heart breaks. Cynical, I know, but hilarious. I can't sing or dance and I know it, that why I play bass :D ;)

Sp3nc3r Posted January 21, 2003 Posted January 21, 2003 Considering how lame of a show AI is, I couldn't give a flying fuck..... Cheers! Spencer "I prefer to beat my opponents the old-fashioned way....BRUTALLY!!!!"
