Hammodel AV
Long ago I took off the legs on my Wurlitzer 200a in favor of an X stand, because I could make it the same height as my Hammond console organ lower keys. What do you all do for vintage electric pianos to make them a confortable height, if you are also using a stand Hammond bench? Has anyone made a small platform for the electric piano instead of removing the legs? thanks. Brian. daBowsa
I don't use a real EP with it, but I find the QuikLok WS-550 to be super awesome for my S90. Highly recommended!
steveb
I'm taking my Wurlitzer 200a on a gig for the first time this weekend. I'm undecided how to set this up. My 3 choices are: 1.Wurlie on it's own legs with the Nord Electro on top of the Wurlie. 2. Wurlie on the lower tier of an Invisible stand, Nord on upper tier. 3. Wurlie on an X stand with the Nord sitting on the Wurlie. I'm leaning towards the X stand setup, are you having trouble with the X stand setup ? daBowsa
Will the 200a fit on the lower tier of an Invisible and allow full access to the Electro on top? It would seem to high to me. I'd go option 1 - old new-school. Ain't nothin' cooler than stacking a keyboard on top of another keyboard. Welcome to the Corner, Steve!
steveb
Probably option 1 is the best, most stable, plenty of room for pedals, I'll have to sit, instead of stand, not all bad..... I'm excited to try the "old-new school" rig. New sustain pedal just arrived today from speakeasy. I placed my introduction a couple days ago under the name "b3rocks" but I messed up my registration and had to register again as "steveb" Regards Steve
Hammodel AV
Remember that a Wurly has a slightly curved surface (less than a standard Rhodes, though) that will preclude stacking. I have found that my older QuicLok add-on second tiers will work with the Wurly, and the newer ones won't because of a lack of clearance. The X-Stand works well with the Wurly, except I have to extend the sustain pedal. My question regarding using the legs is to make it nicer looking, eliminate the sustain pedal extender, and free up the X-stand for other keyboards. Thanks. Brian. steveb
Right - luckily the Nord is one of the few keyboards that will sit on the curved top, the rubber feet and size of the Nord allow it to sit perfectly on top. I have one of these. Might work with the Wurly. http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=key/search/detail/base_pid/450384/ Regards Steve
The Captain
re:Electro on top (of older keyboard)... Electro on top of clav generated too much noise, but the clav is probably more sensative to noise than a wurly. Try it first if you can, or plan for backup and bring a second stand. My Prophet Five never gave me that problem. Busch.
steveb
Good tip, Captain, I'll set up the rig this week and check it out for noise. I'm also considering buying a "Vocoder" and dragging it behind my car on the way to the gig Regards Steve
steveb
Hammond AV, I just re-read your post, your want to set up the Wurlie with original legs on a platform, you were clear, I mis-understood. I have not seen such a platform, sorry if I hi-jacked. Steve
