OT - Welcome to... Nashville???

Every once in a great while Nashville resembles my beloved hometown of Highland Park, Il., north of Chicago! It took my wife 3 1/2 hours to get home from work, which is 30 miles away. The first 2 miles took approx. 1 1/2 hours. Gotta love driving in snow in the south. Southern drivers haven't a clue when this happens. :D My car didn't move all day... fantasticsound, you're lucky. We got absolutely shite. The kids still got out of school 2 hours early, cause in Memphis, if anyone even mentions snow, everyone freaks and goes to the grocery store and buys up all the bread and water. People here are retarded.

I remember a particular december day in New Orleans when they had what the panicked locals called a "snow storm". Easily one of the funniest days in my life! (I still laugh when I think of it all). I wonder what they would call a real snow storm? Snow is good, especially when it is well below freezing temperature. Melting snow is bad. /Mats

What do we want? Procrastination!

When do we want it? Later!

Actually my band opened for Confederate Railroad last night, and driving home in the snow was a trip. I hit the curb once or twice but made it home in one peice. But this is Virginia, where it snows pretty often.
Down like a dollar comin up against a yen, doin pretty good for the shape I'm in

Every time they mention "possible dusting" all the senior idiots converge at shop-rite because they won't have enough food if they don't make it the next day. Ch-ching! give me 1/4 pound ham, 4 slices swiss cheese, 2 quarts milk... LOL

You could send some of that snow to Southern Wisconsin as well. So far we only have the cold this winter (it was -4 in the backyard this morning and yes that's Fahrenheit). I haven't even used my snowblower yet. I suppose there's still hope, we still have about 3 months to go. I feel bad for the folks North of us who depend on the snow for tourism.

They said we MIGHT get snow here in Atlanta last night but we didn't. It's still bloody cold though. Supposed to get down to 16 degrees F tonight... not typical of the south!

Since Weewus didn't chime in on the conditions in Charlotte, NC. I will. We got maybe an inch. Certainly enough to cover the ground. Made the grocery store stop on the way home from work and picked up ...... milk, bread and a few other items. As a transplanted northerner you better make the grocery store run. Being used to a 1 foot of snow or more up north is a lot less disruptive. Down here they don't always have the heavy snow removal gear northern cities have. So ya might be captive. If any of you have children you know that low snack supply levels and cooped up kids mix as well as oil and water. :D

Over here in Memphis, we hardly saw any of it, maybe a trillionth of an inch. More sleet than anything, really.

Well....! A lot's happened with this thread while I was working. :) Today was much better in Nashville, though all schools and many businesses were closed due to the weather. I had the enjoyment of watching a semi driver who got stuck backing into a small warehouse for Wise Snacks. Our second warehouse is in the same building. I refused to drive the van down that hill to the far side of the building. Never would have made it back up. It took this guy over an hour to park! We managed to get 3 20'-24' trucks parked in about 10 minutes after he was out of the way. Still, it was slick as can be. Can't wait to set up the governor's inaugural parties, tomorrow. They cancelled his parade, and the public gathering at War Memorial Stadium will probably be poorly attended. (Outdoors, mid 20's temp. expected.) Thank goodness we'll be setting up at Opryland. As to those up north who want our snow.. no way! ;) We only get a snow like this every 5 or 10 years. My daughter had a blast throwing snowballs at mommy and daddy. Man, it's great to be 4 years old, ain't it? :D Or the parent of a 4 year old. ;)
