Hytanon
Hey everybody! I thought I might post up an off topic just to ask you all something that's been on my mind. You all being musicians.. I'm hoping there might be someone that could help or relate to my situation. Well, here it goes. Basically, I've been with my girlfriend for 7 months now, We're both in college and have been for more than 2 years. Her parents are both very old fasioned, although her mom is Catholic, her dad is not. Her father was the CEO of a large company, studied engineering in college, for many years.. making.. quite a large amount of money. Her ex, was a Mechanical Engineer, Catholic, very quiet, and her parents loved him even though he treated her like sh@t He wasn't into sports at all, got a 4.0 at the University of Michigan.. and never had time for her, and in 3 years of relationship, didn't buy the girl a single flower. I mean, come on. Anyway, they broke up... and that's when I came into the situation. Everything was fine for a while, until we moved back into our respective college living situations (my apartment/her sorority). And I started to hear all these horrible things her parents were saying about me.. that a long term relationship with "this person" (me) would just end up being bad. I haven't talked to her parents in over 4 months now and really don't know where to start with making this process better. Not to toot my own horn or anything, I'm a clean cut guy, I'm passionate about what I do, I wear a suit to work every day, and study hard in school. I'm studying music at Eastern Michigan University, which.. definitely isn't the University of Michigan by any means, but it's not a bad college. And the biggest thing of all, my girlfriend is happy. (or she does a good job of pretending to be Because I want to persue some kind of music as a career, they don't believe I will be able to support their daughter "intellectually, or financially". She doesn't agree.. but they refuse to listen and they are stuck in their mindset of thinking they know me inside and out. What gives? Is this a common thing? or am I by myself on this one???? ~Anthony
