charles b
When new models are introduced at NAMM, are prices on current models generally lowered? Any ideas on stage pianos below $1000- do you think any new ones will get introduced by anyone?
zxcvbnm098
Having worked MI retail while in college, I would say it's rare that models get reduced in price. Usually products are deleted and blown out to GC (or another big retailer that will take all of the stock at once from the manufacturer) to make room for the new model. GC does alot of that in their flyers. If something seems ridiculously cheap in one of their adverts it's usually stuff they've bought on closeout. Since everthing is computerized in retail these days, expecially with the GC's of the world (their largest dealers usually), they hate it when an existing SKU has to be changed to reflect some sort of change (like a price change). It sounds stupid, but it really messes them up. It's much easier to bring in a new model with an entirely new SKU.
