Andre Rieu: Christmas Around The World

I'm sure he's a fine musician, but what a letdown. :(

Well, given that our feed comes from Rochester , you're probably right, Dan. ;)

Do you guys still get your PBS out of Detroit? Or was that just the southern townships like Sherbrooke? I always found that odd when I was a kid... :freak:

Oh, and for those of us in Toronto, it's airing on December 2nd at 8pm. :thu:

Bummer... Did he at least play Crossroads and Badge?

At least you will get to see it on Friday.

It's a good show. The boys can still play. Jack did some really nice runs and Ginger still has some solid beats and did some nice fills. He seemed to tire after a while though.

A couple of things bothered my about it.

1) Eric seemed really uninspired. The other guys were obviously digging the jam. He seemed like maybe he was above playing this stuff now. Could just be me.

2) Cream has not played together for 37 years. Seems like yesterday.

They were a little too polite for me. I don't know how they possibly could have lived up to my hopes though.

Summer of 67, I got pulled into my first band after having been a classical nerd all my life. Within 3 days, I had been introduced to Doors, Hendrix Are You Experienced, and Cream Disraeli Gears. Wow.

Hmmmmmmm... what we got in Raleigh was Eric Clapton - Guitar Festival.

It's a good show... if you like six string wankers.

Every ONCE in a while, they'll show the keyboard players.

Why can't they have a Keyboard Festival?

Hmmmmmm, who would I like to see?

...hmmm.

Maybe Clapnot can reform Blind Faith with Steve Winwood and get put in his place again.

Winwood sung every song.

Wrote or arranged all but one-Presence of the Lord.

Clapnot got smoked...

They didn't play my favorites. :(

They concentrated on their blues stuff and stayed away almost completely from the psychedelic songs that I love. No "Tales Of Brave Ulysses", no "Strange Brew", no wah-wah guitar at all...

I thought that the most effective song was the oddball track from Disraeli Gears - "We're Going Wrong".

I caught part of it, and thought it sounded thin. I did happen to see Steve Winwood a few months back in Kansas City, had a front row seat in small theater there. That was a pretty cool show, the drummer was particularly good.

Cream is a POWER TRIO, so all keyboard parts are sequenced. ;)

Busch.

There was a Leslie 122 next to Claton's amps. Maybe the intended keyboard player never showed.

For Badge?
That's what I would have guessed, except that when he played the riff, it didn't sound like it was thru a leslie to me. Also, I couldn't see any horns or rotors turning, so I don't even know if it was on.

I played in an 8 piece horn band. We would often get bored. So...three words:

As I said, here in Raleigh PBS was showing "Eric Clapton - Guitar Festival". Although it's not the Cream Reunion show, they did have a Leslie sitting right next to Clapton's amp. I heard an organist, but didn't see him until the end - he was on the far right. I mean FAR, FAR right.

Other bands were using the NORD and B3 and I believe I saw one Korg CX-3. There was one guy there with a white B3 and TWO WHITE LESLIES. I heartily approve of this setup. Somebody buy it for me and haul it around when I need ya to, OK?

Nevertheless, it was a cool show.

PS I wanna be just like MARCUS GARRISON when I grow up. ;)

Man, you freaked me out with that, Tom... but that ain't me, I'm afraid. Still waiting for the CAL web guy to update the musician's listing on the site. ;-)

Nice try, tho...

That's right. And then they had to find another at the last minute. A certain Dave accepted but finally changed his mind at the last minute too when he heard there were sequenced parts.

Hi Dave! Just having fun. ;)
