That is a very good price!!

Just FYI, all new PC2 models automatically come with the Orch/GM ROM installed, leaving one slot open for the Classic Keys ROM (an $180 item):

the ACRYLIC MUSIC RACK. This is not an option for the PC1X, I believe.

That is just what I used to think.

For the heck of it, I downloaded the PC1X manual from the Kurz site. Just a few pages into it, it shows how to attach the Acrylic music rack. Exactly the same as the pc2. It does not fit on the new PC161 which is a 61 note version of the PC1X.

I can't win.

The acrylic music rack is very nice though. Otherwise, I'd have to use my music stand which takes up too much space.

But the polyphony option is great since you're using 2 notes of polyphony whenever you choose to play a stereo program - like the triple strike stereo grand piano, and their new lush stereo strings.

And did I mention that the PC2X weighs only 23 pounds?

Naaaah... You must be mistaken with Mariah's rack weight. :)
:D I know. I just wanted to know if anyone was listening. :P

Huh? According to the official website, the PC2 (76 keys) weighs 39 pounds (17.7 kg) and the PC2X (88 keys) weighs 55 pounds (23.6 kg). Was that a mistake in metrics?

I mean, if it actually weighed 23 pounds, I would love to get one over an Electro...

... And i just found that there was a second page to this thread. D'oh!

But I'm not joking when I said i'd love a weighted 61-key version of the PC1/PC2 (kinda like the PC161 they have listed on the european website but not on the US website... and which there seems to be no sight of anywhere else).

I played an s90es yesterday and liked it a lot, but it still did not distract me from wanting the pc2x. I do not understand it, but the Kurz has this power over me. Anyways, let's go on with our lives.

I understand it, part1sts. The reason that Kurz products are enticing is that the company was born by the genius of 1 guy - Ray Kurzweil. His dreams came to fruition from the great work of a handfull of brilliant sound-designers and circuit designers. Their keyboards started out pioneering the sampling technology that made a digital piano sound really good for the first time. Their VAST editing system is second to none. Their digital filters sound excellent - some of the best on the market. And their non-obsolecence in sound design is unique to Kurzweil. Understanding the workings of my K2000 lets me easily move up to the K2500 and the K2600, etc. Sure, it's a steep learning curve, but the sounds that can be built using VAST are powerfull and unique.

I have never had a mechanical problem with my PC2X. My K2000 has had minimal problems; the main one stemming from the design of a lack of protection circuitry for transistors that mute the outputs when the unit is turned on/off. The transistors can fail if one connects to the Kurz, and then connects to the mixer (without the protection circuitry that was later added).

My 1000PX still works, although the backlight is burned out.

I really like the Kurzweil sounds and I've never, EVER, been disappointed with the purchase of these three units.

Purchase the PC2X and don't look back. :)

OK Dave, you caught me in a rare moment of having to run out the door & not being able to proof read my stuff. I'm going to change it now... because I can.

In the meantime, leave my sheep outta this. They don't hurt anybody. They're good sheep. Not a single one of them is... ummmmmm, baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad.;)

No. Don't say it. I'll say it for ya...

Oh Bruttah.

Thank you, Cydonia. I am honored. :)

But I'll tell you what you can do for me...

Introduce me to the lady in your avatar. :freak:

Besides, I'm thinking that Mariah is just a little outta reach.;)

The PC is a a new series and the PC-2 was the first one, right?

Has anyone experienced any software bugs? I have not. Everything works as described (and more). I did, however, start with the latest version that incorporates both expansion cards and I do not have the Polyphony expansion.

Tom

Tom, don't give up yet! There's still hope!

We have so many things in common!

Look at this picture:

See? You like sheep and I like dogs! Isn't that wonderful? I think it's a sign!

And... look at this other picture: it was taken by my daddy, when I was just a cute little thing.

Now, if you look closely at the valley behind me, I am almost sure that there is a sheep somewhere.

See? Another sign! Don't give up... please!!

Dr. Dreamer - Mariah...

Thanks, Gentlemen.

We better get back on topic or noobies will think this forum is all about old guys lusting after young girls.

Of course, I could add a link to a thread that asked "Why did you become a musician in the first place?" That would put this thread right back on topic in a hurry. :P
