Wewus432 Posted January 15, 2003 Posted January 15, 2003 I've been listening to a Maia Sharp song entitled You Can't Lose Them All, which is a play on the phrase You Can't Win Them All. I like that song and songs like that, the message of this song is as long as you keep trying and keep your confidence you can't lose. You only lose when you give up hope, very true. Jotown Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 Yeah, I dig those kind of songs. When I was a kid, one of the first songs I remember singing was 'High Hopes" the Frank Sinatra song. As I grew older songs like, Bridge over troubled water, You've got a friend, Lean on me, even I'll be there, really got to me. In my ghetto wonderland in Detroit, those songs reached out through the radio, and I really believed that they were singing just to me. That's why I started playing and writing music in the first place. I wanted to touch people the same way that those songs touched me. That is why I believe in the power of music so much. It meant that much to me then, and now. Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
Tedster Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 How about that country song "You broke my heart so I'm gonna get drunk and lay down on the railroad tracks"... Anyone remember that one? "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
strat0124 Posted January 16, 2003 Posted January 16, 2003 I like Phoebe's songs on Friends.....really inspirational! :) Down like a dollar comin up against a yen, doin pretty good for the shape I'm in
george costanza Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 "All You Need Is Luck" by the Beatles, a very talented but extremely lucky group of young men who came out of the sticks in North England to hook up with probably the only person in the world with a similar sense of humor & sharp orchestrating & arranging skills (George Martin) & thence take over the world, thereby proving the message of one of their most entertaining tunes(love those 3/4 to 4/4 turnarounds).
Jode Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 "Don't Give Up" by Peter Gabriel, with special guest Kate Bush. Maybe not inspirational, but very hopeful. Powerful stuff. "I had to have something, and it wasn't there. I couldn't go down the street and buy it, so I built it." Les Paul
Bunny Knutson Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 I'm reminded of the part in The Song Remains the Same where Robert Plant is introducing Stairway to Heaven, and he says, "This is a song of hope." I've always wondered WTF that was supposed to mean. I think he was being facetious. https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/

I was saying, "God, there has to be something else you want me to do. Some other assignment?" I started my car, and that song came on. I cried like a child. A great, great song. And one of the reasons I still like Peter Gabriel. Jotown:) "It's all good: Except when it's Great"
Gtoledo3 Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 Jotown, What a great story. It makes the fact that I like Peter Gabriel for "Shock The Monkey" seem kinda shallow. ;) Want mix/tracking feedback? Jode Posted January 17, 2003 Posted January 17, 2003 I like Peter Gabriel for "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" and "Cinema Show" - but then, I'm old fashioned. "I had to have something, and it wasn't there. I couldn't go down the street and buy it, so I built it." Les Paul
