WastedYears
If you're familiar with these songs, the early Abraxas versions, I was wondering if you can tell me who's playing the Organ? Is it Greg Rollie?? & what's he playing?? Also on Jingo, the organ fades in........do you think that's a volume pedal, or a production fader move. mate stubb
Yes, that's Greg. The fade in on Jingo is two things - the volume pedal AND pulling more drawbars out. mate stubb
If you pay attention, you can hear that the leslie had single speed motors - no slow speed. So maybe a 31H or something. I ran mine like that from time to time. Whatever he used, it sounded awesome. I sent this message to him by email, so lets see if he responds. grolie@greggrolie.com Hi Greg, I'm currently following a thread in the Music Player 'Keyboard' Forum, and a question came up that needs an answer. The poster wanted to know what organ/leslie were used on 'Evil Ways'. Everybody has a different opinion, so mabee you could set the record straight. Much appreciated, Paul (another Jersey guy) Paul WUDAYAKNOW.. For the first time in my life, I'm wrong again!!
Dave Pierce
Jersey guy? Gregg Rolie is a local boy -- to the San Francisco Bay Area. At least this is where he grew up. Maybe he lives in Jersey now? Hmmm. The Jingo fade-in is indeed expression pedal plus drawbars. Fun tune to play. I sort of miss my Santana Tribute Band gig... --Dave Make my funk the P-funk. DafDuc
That gig had to be heaven. Even if you didn't get to do all the Welcome tunes... I played in an 8 piece horn band. We would often get bored. So...three words: "Tower of Polka." - Calumet

Could have been a temporary layover, or complete BS. Paul WUDAYAKNOW.. For the first time in my life, I'm wrong again!!
paully
Man, that didn't take long! Here's the answer right from the man himself. "B-3 ..... Leslie was stock but beat up . (122 I think) Gregg" Thanks Gregg, Paul WUDAYAKNOW.. For the first time in my life, I'm wrong again!!
