eric
Hey folks, My Yamaha WX1F was delivered today. This is a lightly used and somewhat rare instrument (very much like the U series with a different cabinet reinforcement). Here is the piano rolling down the sidewalk. It was raining a bit, so this was a quick maneuver to get it to the house. This is the only photo I have right now that shows the X-back construction of the WX series. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/eslawson/piano_moving.JPG The piano in its new home. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/eslawson/piano_1.JPG http://mywebpages.comcast.net/eslawson/piano_2.JPG Slightly different angle. I really like the U5-style music rack, which opens and closes with a slight tug on the bottom to make it angle forward. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/eslawson/piano_3.JPG It looks great in our home and sounds wonderful! This is first time I've had a true instrument in the house after living with an old beater upright for the past 10+ years. Regards, Eric

ITGITC
Well eric, you're going to have to do what Sue had done today. She had to be really, really quiet while it was being done. She said it didn't hurt & that she gets it done every six months or so. It costs a lot, but once it's over she's in heaven. Welcome to regularly scheduled piano maintenance. kanker.
Great axe! My only question - you seriously going to have all that stuff sitting on top of the piano with out a runner under them? A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.

Dave Horne
It looks like beautiful instrument. Congratulations on the newest addition to your family! eric
Thanks to everyone for the kind words! It is interesting that this new "gear" is more exciting than anything I've bought for my live rig. Originally posted by kevank: Great axe! My only question - you seriously going to have all that stuff sitting on top of the piano with out a runner under them? Each of those items has felt underneath, so there's no risk of any scratching. I kind of put up a fight with my wife about all that stuff, but it is the same configuration we had on the old piano and she likes it. Since the piano was kind of a "me" purchase (also to benefit the kids), I figured the least I can do is let She Who Must Be Obeyed be in charge of decorations! ELP71
Congrats, Eric. Looks great! NOt to be terribly nosey, but app. what was the price range on the black beauty? Weasels ripped my flesh. Rzzzzzzz.
ABECK
That is beautiful. I have been interested in a U series upright myself for quite some time. I just need to convince my wife that we can make room for it. Of course, with a very active 2 year old, it might be safer to wait 'till he's a little older. mate stubb
Isn't it interesting that to most She Who Must Be Obeyeds, that the piano or Hammond is tolerated only as another place to decorate? eric
Originall posted by ELP71: NOt to be terribly nosey, but app. what was the price range on the black beauty? Mid $3k range after significant haggling (they wanted $5500 as a starting point). I think I got a good deal and a good value, considering I was about to go into debt and buy a new piano for upwards of $7k. Based on my research, new U1s are selling in the $6500-7k range, U3s are about $2k more and U5s are maybe $4k-5k more than U1s. U5s retail for like $16k. The piano I bought is the size of a U1 with more robust construction and the details of the U5. When they were still selling the "X" series pianos, they were priced above the U series. Thanks for all the positive comments! I've been playing the piano a lot this evening and it is really filling a space that I'd forgetten about after not owning a fine acoustic piano since I lived with my parents as a teenager.
