That's right fine folks of SSS. I have been harboring lust in my heart for one of these bad boys for quite some time now. And guess what? A guy I know is selling his (dead mint) for $450!!! :D Man, I can almost smell those tubes burning already. :thu: BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! A good friend of mine has one, and he loves it. I'm pretty darned impressed with the tone too. One of my clients also has one, and it records very well. Give in to your lusts (at least in this case) - $450 is a smokin' price for one in dead mint condition - as long as the smoke isn't coming from inside the amp. :D

One of my students has one. He's got three (count 'em) three Fender amps, a Hot Rod DeVille, a Twin, and some solid state...Princeton Chorus or something. Funny thing is, that little solid state sounds unbelievably sweet for very clean stuff, and the Twin needs no introduction. And, I think I could talk him into parting with the DeVille. (Evil leer)... I've got two Marshalls and an Ampeg. I need a Fender. You KNOW I need a Fender. (All together now): Buy it Buy it Buy it Buy it Buy it Buy it

I bought one this summer, the 4x10 Deville. Killer amp in my opinion. I love silencing the naysayers of this amp. I've totally went native and don't even use pedals anymore. Just this amp, a cord, and a guitar. The boost function footswitch is all I use. If you dial it in right, and use the right guitar, its killer. Enjoy man....you won't be sorry. Plenty of oomph.

But to me (past owner of a Super 6) the tens are way tighter, focused, and this configuration really doesn't break up as fast as you might think, at volume. However, I do occasionally plug my Marshall cab in with this amp.....the bass response alone damages internal organs! :)

I'm going to check it out tomorrow. If it is consistent with the others I've played before, I'm gonna grab it. As for tha 4x10 thing. I've been using a 4x10 cab in my live rig for about 10 years now, and I love it. Everything goes through the board at all gigs, so volume really won't be an issue. Thanks to all the gear sluts here for giving me the strength to do the right thing. :freak: :D

Give Myles a call over at GT when you get it. He will be happy to set you up with a "Myles approved" set of great tubes that can help you get the most out of that baby. The ones he gave me for my HR Deluxe did the trick, improving the tone while providing a more balanced gain structure. (The classic "problem" with these amps is most of the gain is between 0 and 4... and not much changes as you go above that... plus, 1.5 is often TOO MUCH for rehearsals and small clubs... new pre-amp tubes can help correct this!). Have fun with your GAS! guitplayer

I'm still "guitplayer"!

Get it! Any of the Hotrod series Tube amps are great. I recently sold a HRD for $375, so $450 for a Bassman (that's really what it is) is a helluva deal. I replaced the HRD with a ProTube series Evil Twin. Holy shite, I though the HRD was heavy  . The Twin is also unholy loud and with tons of bass response. I just purchased a MXR EQ that I'm gonna try with the amp tonight at a gig to try and help shape the sound a bit. It's been a bit midrangy for my taste, but otherwise I love it. The distortion is actually quite thick and huge. I can even get a convincing Zack Wylde sound with my LP, believe it or not.

Man, I love my de Ville 2X12. The only bitch about it is the weight. The 4X10 has to be even heavier. The only other bitch I have about it is this; IT'S TOO LOUD! Great deal. You better jump on this dude.

I know a few players who have Deville's, and they are plenty loud. Too loud for smaller venues--they usually end up using smaller amps. And in a large venue, it's simple: if the room is large enough that the Deville on its own can't fill it, then you'll be micing the guitar amp anyway. And often when that happens (the amp is mic'd) the guitarist uses a smaller amp so he can turn down his stage volume. The real issue is how loud your stage volume is. My bandmate rarely uses his Deville, instead he uses his Princeton. Believe me, I think the Deville is a great amp. It's just the question of whether it cranks up enough is not the issue. (Unless your band is named Tinnitus.)

Actually there are three: 1. It's so loud that to saturate the power tubes is to injure your audience and have the drummer throw sticks at you. 2. It's heavy and I'm not as young as I once was. :( 3. I love the sound and punch of the four tens but they seemed to be a bit directional for the smaller places with weird setups. My solution? I built a custom cab for an old 70's Bassman with two tens and two rack spaces for wireless and effects. Plenty loud and sounds awesome. Kahn, if you are going to use the DeVille's drive channel or want lots of wonderful clean headroom, you got a killer amp. You may want to get some casters though...
Originally posted by Tedster: Cool, Khan. You BASTARD!!!
:D Well basically I have 2 bands. The Pink Floyd Tribute, and the local 60's + 70's project. If I do use the Deville for live, the Floyd thing will definitely not be a problem volume wise, As for the local thing, the majority of the stuff we are doing requires a clean to mildly dirty tone, and I really don't foresee any overkill problem. The main reason I wanted to get a combo amp (my current rig is all rack stuff) is that I have a Digitech GNX2 that I was hoping to use direct in to the PA using the amp and cabinet models. But after working with it for a while I found it was just lacking in that feeling that you were 'moving air'. The GNX does have lots of cool FX, and I want to experiment with the amp models and stompbox models (without the cab models) as the front end to the Deville.

I have the deluxe, and I put Svets in the output and a hot EH in the V1. I don't even use the drive channel. It's loud, though.
I really don't know what to put here.
