cnegrad
Greetings, Has anyone read Chick Corea's book on the creative process (sold at his website); and if so, do you recommend it? Before purchasing I'd like to find out if there's actually some substance in there, or if it's just a bunch of Scientological claptrap. Thanks! daBowsa
I bought a Chick Corea video and found it to be useless. More of a "Watch me record a song" than anything else. "See, I wrote these charts out. Now I give it to the dummer and bass player, and they play the written parts while I play the head, then solo, then the head. Thanks for paying $30 for my instructional video!"
cnegrad
Yeah, I've seen that video and agree wholeheartedly. This book is more about his creative process when composing. Anybody read it?
David Loving
Frankly,I'd be wary of it. I am not into the scientological creative process. I have the old John Novello book and it's some of that. I just cannot relate. "Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown."
cnegrad
Hence my above question. Anyone read it?
orangefunk
yikes... I have the Novello book too... its damn creepy.. even my drummer laughed out aloud reading it. I have Coreas transcriptions book by Peter Sprague though and its great..
cnegrad
BTW, does it bother anyone else that his new album is called "Rhumba Flamenco"? I think it's great how well he plays flamenco, but enough already! I remember the old days when every new Chick album pushed new boundaries. Now it's just rehashing the past.
