20to20 Posted January 10, 2003 Posted January 10, 2003 Hi all, Many of my clients now own some sort of home studio setup... Some do 'demos' at home, then come in to fully re-record their compositions... But most [home studiowners] do some/most of their projects at home, then come here to do [minimal] tracking and/or mixing and/or mastering and/or graphics... Many have questions about 'the basics' of recording/engineering, but also regarding the best way to prepare their stuff to effectively dovetail into the pro studio environment... I figure the better educated they are about what they can do at home vs. what can be done here, the more likely they will be to utilize my services and facilities... Preferrably over numerous projects... All of this led me to begin putting together an outline for a 'Continuing/Adult Education'-type course... Basically, offering evening classes to instruct DAW [Pro-Tools Free?] techniques at a local high school's computer lab... I found out, in my city, there is an established education program that coordinates many such 'Skills Courses'... Subjects ranging from quilting, stained glass, etc. to Tai Chi to guitar instruction, etc... And also [many different] computer classes... It seems like I could slide right in between all of that... ;) Anybody out there also teaching Home Recording Classes, etc...? Any thoughts/suggestions/advice for me...? Thanks...sorry for the long post, Bob Phillips 20to20soundesign
Audiobotica Posted January 10, 2003 Posted January 10, 2003 Sounds like a good idea. Good luck with it. The quick alternative is just to send folks to http://www.studiocovers.com and tell them to read all the articles linked there. Yours in Music, Ben Fury
