quin10
Hello to everybody any body...I am new to the music business and I am looking at purchasing a workstation. I need to know what would be the most cost effective system. I would need to start producing music. I have been looking at the Yamaha motif 6, Yamaha CS6x, Roland Fatnom, Korg and I think the other one I have come across is the Aleis. I am looking at making a purchase over the net (ebay). Also do you think I will need a mpc 1000 with whatever system I go with.
Botch.
Welcome to the 'boards, Quin. You've cast a pretty wide question there, kinda like "I need to get to work every day, which car should I buy?" The CS6x doesn't have a sequencer that I know of (someone will correct me if I'm wrong). Personally, I've had very good luck with Yamaha stuff and Alesis, no experience with Korg, and I've been boycotting Roland for 15 years now because their manuals are so badly translated (I'm one of the 10% of the population that reads the manual; I'll admit their gear sounds wonderful and is built like a tank). There's as many opinions as there are, uh, something, but you can make most modern workstations work well. Good luck.
