Stephen Fortner
One of my duties as the new moderator is to comb this forum for useful, cool, funny, or just plain interesting posts. About 2000 characters (that translates to roughly half a page in print) worth of these will find their way into print in Keyboard magazine each month... I'm not sure of the starting month, but I imagine it will be September or October's issue. I'll be doing this on a tight deadline (nothing at KB isn't!), so while I'll make every effort to notify anyone who's post has been chosen, there may not always be time. So I'm letting people know that I'll credit their forum user names by default. (If your forum name just is your real name, it's a non-issue.) As for the legal-ese (I hate this stuff), it's always been the case that anything posted on any of our forums becomes Musicplayer property and can be quoted or reprinted, etc. That's not the case for excerpts from already-copyrighted material, nor for stuff you post links to that's hosted elsewhere. Just the actual posts. I imagine this would be really rare, but if anyone objects to being quoted in print, please let me know via private message. This is just one way we'll be working towards more editorial responsiveness to what happens here day to day. Byrdman
It would be nice to be able to review what one wrote before it appears. There is a big difference between writing for print and writing for a forum, or even sending email. At least, it would be a courtesy to ask permission before publishing, even though we have assigned copyright on anything we write here.
K K
Great idea. Here's a suggestion : as lately many of us were involved in the famous "readers/non-readers" topic, it could be one of the choices for the next issue. About the fun stuff, Zeronine's alternate notation system (see here ) is certainly worth an article.
kanker.
Great idea, but one question - will this help us get free beer or chicks or anything? A ROMpler is just a polyphonic turntable.
Stephen Fortner
Free beer and chicks? I think you mean to be on the Guitar Player forum! Seriously, if I meet you in person, I'll buy you a beer and put it on the expense account. (Just kidding about the expense account, Ernie.) In fact the music literacy thread started by Dave is something we're looking very closely at for the first installment in october.
