Super 8
Originally posted by lakeside studios: I thought all you needed for an Enigma recording was a Nellee Hooper drumloop and a half-decent pan-pipe sample..........
Well yes, that is true, and those -plus Gregorian Chant 2- are all loaded up on the sampler which automatically boots up that way. As for the rest of the gear, it's not plugged in. The AMEK is a modified refurb with the sliders re-routed to dim the lights or adjust the temperature of the room, One slider controls the volume on the TV set. Channel changing is not necessary since the studio has it's own Teletubbies tape on a continuos loop. Multiple flat-panel displays allow Internet surfing while still keeping sessions of Freecell and Mindsweeper (or their Mac equivalents) going at the same time. The custom integrated keyboard features both MIDI in *AND* out, as well as special bank of dedicated buttons for "Teen Beat", "Cha-Cha", and "Jazz Waltz". Magic Genie Chord is also included, and the board features dual volume *AND* tone knobs for sound adjustment. The zebra love seat folds out to provide a soft bed during nap time. EXAGON
Of course, the OB is in my living room, with a k-2000, which i play via MIDI from the studio, so i can use them in both studio and relax situations! ernest828
I`m with Phil. That console is not in the sweet spot and mixing must be a pain in the buttocks. I like my setup: d8b on an Omnirax Coda and my rack to the right of the console on a 45 degree angle and the keyboard to the right of the rack on another 45 degree angle. Don`t know how to upload any pix, sorry. Anyway, to each her own... Ernest
Mats Olsson.
It is a strange concept indeed, at least the center section of the console is in the sweet spot. Some digtal consoles have a fat channel in the center section, does this apply to the Amek? /Mats http://www.lexam.net/peter/carnut/man.gif What do we want? Procrastination! When do we want it? Later!
Lee Flier
Interesting idea for someone who is primarily a composer/keyboardist, I suppose. I'm with Phil though - it would drive me nuts not to have the console at the sweet spot. And for me, a studio with no drum kit is a sad place indeed. :D
offramp
Hey, tron...could you detail me/us on the wall in front of your setup, there? I've been trying to come up with something better for mine and just seem to be really bored with the options; the what/where/why of it would be nice info to consider. As for the girl, I got one of those myself, just brunette. :D I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
Jeebus
Perhaps this fellow has a high tech monitor control system that allows the sweet spot to follow him around the room wherever he goes.
