you too can build this and end your computer noise. this box is/was an experiment. it is BOX#1. more and better boxes will come. but the point is, its simple and anyone can do it. obviously you can build a better box if you want. Not bad. It really is just a matter of taking the time to do it. I'd need to make mine a little bit bigger than yours, though. My laptop would need to fit in it while folded open, and I guess I'd need to be in there too. Maybe I need those rubber gloves through holes like Homer at the power plant.

if you look close you will notice there is no back to the box. i was unsure how to do the back, so i left it off and experimented. we found that draping a towel over the back hanging down 2/3 distance top to bottom kills the sound completely while still leaving enough airflow to keep the computer at 36C the computer ran at 36C before the box was installed. the back will be designed shortly, and emulate what the towel is doing.

i forgot to add some important stuff, must be the 13 beers i drank until 7am ugg. anyway the important thing is that the box is built out of 1/2 inch "high density fiberboard" its a lot like cardboard, its VERY heavy (you wouldnt beleive how heavy it is, a lot like drywall). this stuff is DENSE and doesnt allow sound through it at all. you have to put your ear up to it touching the board and you can barely hear the computer run. there is NO insulation in the box. there is some weatherstrip around the door to help seal it.
