What kinda freakin job is that? And don't give me a lame excuse like "It's a job where I have 1376 envelopes and and shove 3 pieces of paper into each one."

Try an envelope follower plugin, it should be listed under "Options"... Sheesh, guys who can't hold their licker....

that college degree really is great now, aren't you proud dad?
Yeah, go with the sponge method. I think the glue is non-toxic, but regardless, you are running the risk of spoiling your appetite with that many envelopes. AND think of the calories!!! Still, you DO HAVE a job... A lot of people would like to be in that situation right now. I myself felt the sting of hearing those words "We don't want to let you go, but...". Now I'm a stay at home dad, and self-employed (which means I work, I just don't get paid...) Your final words about the college degree kind of struck me hard. I went to college when I was 27 after having worked for a number of years in the rewarding but low paying human services field (developmentally disabled/juevenile offenders). This was going to be my big move to make something of myself. To get not just a job I could do, but a career I love. Four years later I found myself a junior, completely overwhelmed to the point of 'shut-down', a GPA that -if graphed- looked like an EKG, and unsatisfied with the available options for a degree. I dropped out of college, and waited two semesters for my wife to graduate. During that time I fell into the deepest darkest pit of depression I have ever known -and have been recovering from it ever since (about 5 years now). In looking back I learned an absolute ton about myself and who I am, and especially about how I am wired -I am definitely NOT a traditional student. For that amount of self-knowledge, I am glad I went. But in terms of the toll the experience took my emotional well-being, and my self-worth even as a human being, I really don't know how I could endure that hell again. Consequently, there is something about hearing (or reading) a person talk about their degree/carreer success that makes me lust with envy and -at the same time- recoil with an uneasiness. I think it's safe to say that I have tied far too much of my value as a person to those things. HA! Case in point: all I had intended on posting was a smart-ass comment about your licking envelopes! Boy, I really am fucked up sometimes...

I don't think that anyone finishes 4 year degrees in four years, at least no one I've ever met. Myself, it will take me three years to finish my associates in pre-engineering, and probably another three to finish my BSCE. Then 3 more years for the MSCE, then another year for my MBA. Damn... And my job sucks because they cut hours again before Christmas, my store's busiest time of the year. Who in the hell does that?!

My job sucks to Coaster. I am going to ... do ... SOMETHING! ANYTHING! I just want a job in music that will let me support my family. Is that too much to ask, dammit? I need to get my ass in gear.(Sounds painful, doesn't it?)
I really don't know what to put here.

My job sucks because, despite the fact that we are well paid...we work godawful rotating shifts. Never the same shift at all from week to week. In a building with no windows (they could have put some in, but no, we're fucking peons, we don't need windows). Staring at a computer screen in a dark room, with numbers so small it screws your eyes up. They change software on what seems to be a whim from week to week, not because our product users want changes, but a bunch of higher paid dumbasses who don't create or use the products think it would be nice. Whenever they make a software change, things get seriously upgefucked for awhile. And the worst, is that while we're relatively high up on the government scale, we're treated as kindergarteners. You all probably have mostly the same complaints. I think the "no windows" bit is the worst.

How do you find time to gig and practice Ted? I rotate every six days and work three day shifts. I guess I'm in a different boat, though, 'cause my kids are young.
