Anybody have a New Year's Eve gig?

I'm playing a private party and really looking forward to it. It will be the first New Year's gig for me. I guess I'll try not to get too toasty before I go on.

P.J.'s Bistro...a small but fun place on the corner of 85th and Wornall (across from Hen House and next to Irezumi Body Art for you KCers). Like I say...quite a small joint, but I haven't met a better crowd. We play old hippie music. :D

I am in a College town, so it is DEAD during the holidays. :rolleyes: Have a show this weekend in Raleigh though. :D

We didn't have anything, then on Monday got a desperate call from a place in Vernal, UT, four hours away. We agreed to play for $600 + hotel rooms, but learned last night they can't quite swing the rooms, so we're NOT playing now. With the snowstorms going on right now that's OK.

Yes, I have a New Years gig!! I started playing them in 1972 (I was still in high school - I am not that old!) and I have played EVERY year since then , except one. ...and on that year, even though I didn't play, I got a call the day before to record a band at "Piggies" in Kokomo, Indiana.. I wonder if that place is still there? Tonight, I play a "high brow" gig at a Country Club. My wife keeps "encouraging" me to stay home with her one year...But, they are too much fun! ...besides, I don't want to break my record of doing them. Thank goodness, I have a great wife! Chuck

I've got one in Tonopah, AZ. Way the heck out of town. We have to tear down after the show then set up New Years Day at our house gig which is thurs thru sunday nights. Should be there for awhile!! Last year was my fav New Years gig ever. We played at a resort on a lake. They provided rooms, drinks and food--plus we made a ton of money! Rick

Yup! :thu: [b]Snow Chicken[/b], my cover band, is playing a private party. There should be a couple hundred people there, and we're getting $1000...not bad. Here's our rather versatile set list for tonight, in case you care. I'm with you Chuck. I have worked every New Years Eve, except one, since 1977. I would love to stay home one of these years, but as you know, New Years Eve is a double money night. So I won't be missing one anytime soon. Happy New Year to everyone!

Bummer, I missed last year too. Been doing them since '74 - missed maybe six of them. Just ain't right to not play NY eve. I'm starting rehersals tonight to put our show together again. I'll be there next year! medford
