Soloist Posted December 29, 2002 Posted December 29, 2002 Hi Craig Anderton wrote about a small program called VramDir by a small company called Virtusoft (www.virtusoft.com) back in May 2000. Its a virtual disk program, and exactly what I've been looking for. The only problem is that they seem to out of business since phone and e-mail contacts are out, though their site is still up. Does anyone know if they are still in business and the program is still available? Thanks! Soloist
Soloist Posted December 29, 2002 Author Posted December 29, 2002 Are there any programs comparable to VRamDir? S.
Anderton Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 The company seems to have disappeared. The Mac OS includes a RAM drive option, but I don't know of any Windows programs that do the job. There must be some out there...c'mon SSSers, any ideas? Wewus432 Posted December 30, 2002 Posted December 30, 2002 Is this what you're looking for?- RamDisk . This is a program that loads software into RAM for quicker access.
Soloist Posted December 30, 2002 Author Posted December 30, 2002 Hello What is unique about vRamDir is that it is a virtual directory rather than a drive. The virtual drives aparently sacrifice some speed and flexibility emulating a standard HD volume. Also they are a bit more expensive $50-$100. Craig, are you still using vRamDir? Your old article was very convincing. What do you think about a program like this being a substitute for a dedicated IDE data drive? Instead of two drives, one would hold data and programs, but the 'data drive' would be the virtual drive, and of course at the end of the session, all data could be written to the one real drive. I hope they are still distributing the program somewhere. Thanks! Soloist
Soloist Posted December 31, 2002 Author Posted December 31, 2002 Does anyone know of a source for vRamDir or very similar program?
