John Brown Posted December 29, 2002 Posted December 29, 2002 What is a good free web hosting site? What I would like is just a basic sight that I can put a few MP#'s onto for friends to download. Thanks
Bunny Knutson Posted December 29, 2002 Posted December 29, 2002 IUMA is a good one. Click here. And there's MP3.com, but they are starting a 3-song limit for their free pages. Click here. There are others, but check out IUMA and see if you like it. https://bunny.bandcamp.com/ https://theystolemycrayon.bandcamp.com/
Valkyrie Sound Posted December 29, 2002 Posted December 29, 2002 I always recommend my host: www.doteasy.com If you get a domain name you also get free hosting and email. Very cool... good service. Valky Valkyrie Sound: http://www.vsoundinc.com Now at TSUTAYA USA: http://www.tsutayausa.com

Dak Lander Posted December 29, 2002 Posted December 29, 2002 If you're not looking for more that 20 megs of space I can recommend 1dollar hosting. There is a one time setup fee. It was around $50.00. After that it's just the buck a month, billed annually. I've had very good uptime with them, the pages are quick loading, my mp3s download at a good rate & everything just works. What you get for $1 a month www.YourName.com hosted Unlimited Data Transfer Unlimited Hits Unlimited FTP Access Unlimited E-mail Aliases 20MB Disk Space Free E-mail Account Free Tech Support (via email) Free Domain Transfer* Free Personal CGI-BIN Free FrontPage Extensions Free SSI, PHP, RealNetworks Free Web Editor / File Manager I used GoDaddy for my registrar. It's $8.95 a year for .com & .net domain names. They've been really reliable too. I looked into doteasy some time ago. There were a couple of things that concerned me at the time. They owned the domain name. That's since been changed I see. The other, & I couldn't find info about it on the site was the need to allow email ads to be sent to you. I'm sure that's still in place, Valky??? because there has to be some other means of income than domain registrations alone. The income from that probably just, and may not, cover the cost of their affiliate program administration. As far as the emails... they've always SAID they were going to send me some Doteasy spam.... but I've NEVER seen any...only rare customer service emails. If you do get ads.... it would only be to your primary account email address. You can make another address for daily use and then ignore the other address. But... like I said.... I've NEVER seen an AD yet in the 3 years I've been there. Valky Valkyrie Sound: http://www.vsoundinc.com Now at TSUTAYA USA: http://www.tsutayausa.com
