Robert Smedberg
There's some more info on german sites. Looks like it's a budget X6 model. Only 1 SRX slot. The pads are not touch sensitive. Smaller screen. No digital connections. Available oct/nov -04.
burningbusch
Hopefully it still uses the Fanton/V-Synth style semi-weighted keyboard which is the best semi out there, IMHO. Doesn't the Triton Le use a cheaper keybed than the classic? Busch.
RABid
128 voice. Not bad for a starter. What does the price translate to? This post edited for speling. My Sweetwater Gear Exchange Page

Busch. The Triton Le, and the Motif both use a cheap keybed. I can't remember where, but I remember hearing it was sourced from Yamaha. Since then, it's reminded me of the keybed on my daughters PSR. WestHarp
Now there's official information: http://www.roland.com/products/en/Fantom-Xa/index.html Only 64MB WAV-ROM...
Geosync
FYI The Motif and the MotifES use the same FS Keybed action that have been on Yamaha synths for years. The keybed on the TritonLE is NOT the same action. Take Care, George Hamilton Yamaha US
aliengroover
Yes, I believe the LE has a Fatar keybed, and the other Tritons have the Yammie bed. Peace If at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking 'til you do suck seed!
aliengroover
$1400 at one mega online retailer. Eh, I'll stick with getting the rack. Peace If at first you don't succeed, keep on sucking 'til you do suck seed!
bearded yeti
With all the cheap/free softsynths around, they're gonna have to price it even better than that if they want to see sales.
ELP71
My question is - does Yamaha counter??? Weasels ripped my flesh. Rzzzzzzz.
Bill H.
This (the Xa) doesn't make any sense at all. Usually when manufacturers release a budget version of one of their previous synths, it's a popular one. The Fantom S wasn't well received when introduced, is certainly not considered a classic, and you can pick one up for around $900 used...who's going to buy what is essentially the same thing for $600 more??? RABid
Well, it does have twice the polyphony of the Fantom S. The question for me it, will people pay $500 more to get the Fantom X6? I think the $1500 price point would make more sense if it was a 76 key version. Robert This post edited for speling. aliengroover
I think the price is almost there. A couple hundred dollars less, and it's a steal. At $1400, and only 64MB ROM, it looks less enticing, considering the power of it's rack sibling. It's an LE version that's way more limited than the competition. And considering the original Motif 6 is still being made, for about the same price, well...it's no contest. It will sell decently, I think. There is a market out there that warrants it, though not that big. I don't think the soft synth issue was on Roland's mind(s), but I don't think that will cut into sales of the Xa. Yamaha will. Nicky
The Phantom XA doesn't appear to have aftertouch, so for me, it's not even a consideration. I'll stick with my XP30.
Nicky
To me a Phantom XA should have been a Phantom X without sampling and a sequencer, and with at least 2 srx slots(1 is just dumb considering how many are available), at around $1200.
