David R
If there's already a post about this, direct me to it, please. I did a search and found nothing. My band's entering day two of our album recording and I'm overdubbing Hammond (Nord Electro 61 I'm borrowing from a friend) parts onto the bed tracks I laid today on my QS8. I've been listening to B3s for ages, and know a little bit about them, but there's only a handful of drawbar settings I know and rely on. The band is a funk/jam quartet (keys, bass, drums, and a singer). I have a tendency towards the drawbar setting of 16' and 8' all the way out, with 1 3/5' out to about 4, and 4' or 2' to taste. I'm curious as to what the drawbar setting is that Billy Preston usually uses - that bluesy, gospelly high-partial tone. Also, if anyone knows the drawbar setting John Medeski uses on John Scofield's "Jeep On 35," I'd be greatly appreciative. Dave Pierce
There is a thread here, but I don't know what it's called. For a real "satellite" gospel sound, try something like 023408248. With or without percussion. It's really hard for me to specify drawbars settings like that, because I always tweak. If I went and dialed that in right now, I'd almost certainly end up changing something within a few minutes. --Dave Make my funk the P-funk. I wants to get funked up. mate stubb
Also try some of the pure white drawbars by themselves, not too many of them. For instance, 008000008. Moe ---
