MIDIdiot
I've renamed the topic from other thread cuz I really want to hear as many opinions as possible if you have tried the e-mu vintage pro. What do you think of the EP's, organ and synths it offers? I have a chance to get the module for $375 Cdn. What excites me are the instruments I mentioned above, so if they're weak, kind of spoils it for me
David Loving
I'm in the neighborhood with a 'vintage keys' and I like the ep's [especially the cp 70s, wurlitzers and dyno-rhodes patches], most synths, and the organs. There's plenty to choose from. I think it's a good deal - especially at the price. I bought mine to make up for selling my old vintage keys plus module, and I'm glad I did. used it on a gig last Thursday night - by itself - a "push-club" dance. "Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown." Carlito
Sorry,I can only tell you that I have a Vintage Pro and I love the synth sounds.I haven't tried a new Rompler in years, so I can't make any comparison. Steve123
I bought mine at US $399. Best $399 I ever spent. If you're looking for vintage eps, organs, and synths I don't think there is an alternative out there in hardware for that price. The organs are a subset of those in the B-3 ROM - so those are great too. I loaded mine up with the B-3, Proteus Pop and Sounds of the ZR Roms. That rounds it out nicely for my purposes, but the vintage sounds alone are excellent. Hope this helps. Steve
Prague
I put in the ZR sounds, too. But, with just the vintage sounds you'll find the price a great deal. I don't have any problem with the electric pianos, but I haven't used the organs much. All of the mellotron sounds are great.
mildbill
having only had mine for a week now i can't give any fine details except to say that it's probably worth more than what i paid for it, i don't have any buyer's remorse, and it's the only emu module i've heard that i like the stock sounds on. Steve in KS
I bought mine mostly for the Mellotron samples. The strings and flutes are nice, the choirs not so nice. Until I got my Electro, I also used it for Hammond sounds which it does quite nicely. I bought the B3 rom to have more choices and actually liked some of the sounds better than my Electro until I got a reverb for the Electro. I'm not much into EPs, so I can't really offer an opinion. You can't really go wrong for the low price of the VP, especially if you start figuring out how much it would cost to get these sounds through some other keyboard or module. Synthoid
I agree that the Mellotron samples are really good overall. However, the Vintage Pro's pianos and organs are thin, and need tweaking. When an eel hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's a Moray.
Calumet
I seem to recall the original Vintage Keys module had a sound called "ABACAB" which was...well...you can guess. Does the Vintage Pro have it? My band Thousand Houses: www.thousandhouses.com
