Andre Lower
I feel a little silly for asking, but the point is I've read about the pre-order queue for the Alesis Micron being already sizeable, and that should hinder my plans of purchasing one as soon as it hits the stores (last Alesis answer was "end of September"). Considering I'll have a short window of 15 days in October to buy it (will be visiting the US for business), perhaps it would be wise to place a pre-order somewhere... Am I just getting paranoid or is it really advisable? "I'm ready to sing to the world. If you back me up". (Lennon to his bandmates, in an inspired definition of what it's all about). MikeT156
If you're sure you want it, better to be safe than go home empty handed. If you get it from a dealer like Sweetwater or some of the other dealers that buy from Alesis in large quantity, you'll be sure of getting it. Sweetwater is the best at customer service and if they tell you they'll have it, they will. Mike T. clusterchord
do it. altough, Alesis still might screw you over and delay a bit more, after your visit. so, i'd have a plan B as well, especially if you're dead set on getting some board while in US. i know i always do . http://www.babic.com - music for film/theatre, audio-post
MikeT156
Alesis probably learned it's lesson putting the ION on the market and then having all those problems with the first several hundred units and then a flaky v1.0 OS. If they delay releasing the Micron, there'll probably be a good reason for it. Mike T. Synthoid
We feel Alesis is dragging its feet with this. The ION problems have been solved. The Micron is just a scaled down ION with a few extra features......very strange that they haven't released it. When an eel hits your eye like a big pizza pie, that's a Moray. MikeT156
Yep, ION is fine. V1.05 works well. I'm wondering what the hold up is with the Micron too. Mike T. Mike T.Well, let's think positive: Perhaps they are incorporating a better keybed (the grapevine says Ion's was under average) and even a tilted display! On the latter, the Engineer deep inside me is still playing with the idea of a triangular-section prism... you know, a simple piece of transparent glass with the proper optical adjustment, fixed over the originally flat Ion's LCD...Oh no, hold on, I am blowing my patent rights here ! clusterchord
dream on dude. that is sooo not going to happen. any changes in the manufacturing process cost Alesis a lot of $$. That's why so many manufacturers go with 'offspring' models- change a feature here and there, add a few gimmicks, and sell it as a new product. http://www.babic.com - music for film/theatre, audio-post
