Pursuitboy
Is there any way of incorporating a low end speaker 15" or maybe even an18 hooked up to my MS-3D to get a better bite on the lower end sounds? When the band stage volume picks up late in the evening and things get rocking,I feel my 10 "speakers seem to wash out on the lower end. It gets frustrating because I love this Stereo 3D thing, but it ends up sounding distorted. I used to use a Peavey 115-International and a KB-400 power mixer (still have it) and didn't seem to have this problem. But then again it wasn't stereo.(Love that D-50 in stereo) Just looking for a little clarity.
Slowly
Can't you just take the XLR outs on the back of the KRD and send it to a subwoofer? Kcbass "Let It Be!"
Pursuitboy
Kcbass I used those outputs on the back and sent it to the main board (for larger crowds). Could I send one to the board and the other to a bottom end speaker? We don't have a sound man so it's just a guess sometimes how the keyboard sounds thru the mains. If nobody is holding their ears then it's good.....I guess
keyoctave
If you check the MS website you should find instructions on how to add a subwoofer output to your KBR-3D (KBR-3D subwoofer kit instructions 5/2K). MS also says to cut the port vents on the back to 2" from 3" (if yours are this length). This will add 3db @ 100 Hz. One thing I have found with My KBR-3D is that they don't have the power to play real loud on the keyboard side. I feel it is first a great Leslie type speaker (and it plays VERY loud) and second a keyboard amp. I too like the stereo but I try not to use the stereo expand circuity as it adds coloration to the sound and makes it harder to cut through the mix when playing live. I use a Behringer DSP 8024 to RTA my KBR before I play and then run just the keyboards (not organ) through the EQ to the KBR. This had made a BIG difference in sound quality. My keyboards cut through much better and with clarity. If the room is big, I just use the KBR as a stage monitor and run it through the PA. Just a note: the above info is for the original KBR's, not the newer ones with the bedliner type finish (don't know if they have a sub out or not). They also have different speakers in them, so I don't know how they sound. In all, I still think there is nothing like this amp out there. If you play a clone along with other keyboards and want to limit yourself to one speaker, then this is THE amp. Kurzweil PC3, Hammond SK-1 + Ventilator, Korg Triton. 2 JBL Eon 510's.
