Anomaly
Gosh, I wonder how old he was? I am surprised he was still living. What a legacy, tho! Just imaging what a differnet world it would be were it not for his invention. Laurens Hammond would have died a pauper were it not for the Leslie, yet he despised it with a passion. Strange world. Rest in peace, Don and thank you ever so much!
Dave The Rave
Word is that he was 93, so he'd had a good puff. Sad to see another legend pass away....I guess we'll see more and more as we ourselves get older. :DTR Cambrian Guitars
Tedly Nightshade
Hats off! From a guy with 7 leslies. The leslie is an acoustic instrument. It blends with acoustic instruments like nothing else in keyboard speakers. What my life would have been like without Don, I don't even care to guess. A WOP BOP A LU BOP, A LOP BAM BOOM! Stephen Fortner
His invention did nothing less than change the world for musicians. I actually got to meet Don Leslie once, at a post-NAMM show Joey D concert. Nicest person you could ever hope to meet. Keyboard players... if you've got one, fire it up. If you normally gig on a simulation, bring that monster to your next show. Let the sound the man created ring out to the world. I am truly, truly, sad at this news. And on my way to a gig, for which I was gonna use the Electro 2 by itself. The Leslie 142 is coming now, the hell with how tired I am. Rest well sir. They'd better make you a saint up there. Dave Horne
I can not vouch for the authenticity of this information, but you might find this interesting .... link No guitarists were harmed during the making of this message. In general, harmonic complexity is inversely proportional to the ratio between chording and non-chording instruments.
Dave The Rave
I wrote to the Leslie Family expressing my condolences. I just received the following email from them: To everyone who contributed their thoughts, prayers, stories and well wishes, our sincerest thanks go out. It's very comforting knowing how many admirers our Dad had. Be assured that my mother, Carolyn, and the whole family read every single message sent. I'm compiling a book of them for her. I just wish I had the time to send you all individual responses. Please share this email address with anyone who would like to send a message. Thanks again and God Bless you all.
