Problem with Alesis QS7

Seriously

Recommended Posts

The horn player in our band also fills in on keys. He plays an Alesis QS-7. Lately it's been acting weird, changing pitch and modulating on it's own. I was able to find the reinitialization steps, but has anyone else encountered this? We share a power strip, and my keys don't suffer at all.

As always, ANY help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

- Steve

My old church's QS-8 bit the dust recently, they were describing the same behavior. We bought it in '97 or '98, so 6 or 7 good years before the squirrelliness hit.

When you perform your 00/03 reinit, you have to make sure your mod wheel and pitch bend are in their off positions, otherwise you will get strange behavior, that might even seem intermittent, because of different settings on different patches.

Good luck.

I played in an 8 piece horn band. We would often get bored. So...three words:

I once had my QS8 start changing patches on its own. I changed the midi in from serial to MIDI and it stopped - seems there was enough noise in the environment to create spoof midi messages on the hi speed interface. No doubt most were garbage but some caused the instrument to misbehave.

Wow - that was what they said was going on at the church. They got $350 trade in toward an S-90. That included 2 Q-Cards...
