progfusion74
Mind if I jump into the fray? Was thinking of hitting the stores today for some opportunistic shopping. I currently have an onstage X stand on which I keep my alesis qs7. I am looking for one where I could if I wanted put a mixer or control surface on top. Ideally I want the control surface tilted down towards me. Can I do this with my current stand (extensions)? Also some day I might want to expand my rig to include a weighted board (e.g. S90) plus a second specialized board (e.g. an Andy or Kurz) Any suggestions? I don't gig, so no issues there. Something not too expensive would be nice. http://www.indiegrooves.com/dnm/images/dnm_small.gif My Blog
Bill Heins
I've got an Ultimate Apex 3 tier stand...have used it for my K2500XS on bottom, Roland JV-1000 in the middle, and a Mackie CR1604-VLZ on top. You can mount at any angle you want...though you will find that the laws of gravity still hold true Darkon the Incandescent http://www.billheins.com/ Hail Vibrania! RABid
Quik-Loc stands have a lot of attachment options and you may find one that will allow a rack mount mixer. I use Quik_loc for my main DAW setup with an attachment on the left for my XL-7, an attachment on the right for a computer keyboard, and an attachment in the middle that 2 rack synths sit on, along with an LCD monitor. The one thing I did not like, and I removed, is the set of arms that holds a second and third keyboard. Those were too "bouncy". Robert This post edited for speling. MikeT156
If your existing stand mfg. has an add on second tier for it, you should be OK to add it. I read somewhere that someone got a second tier for an X stand and the tubing was a different diameter than the stand. Be sure to measure it before you buy it, especially if its a different manf. The distance that the second tier is apart is something to consider too. Obviously, if your mixer is not wide enough to fit on it, it won't fly unless you put something underneath it. Then it would look jury rigged, which it would be. Mike T.
