Dan South
This is becoming a but burdensome even for a dedicated Macoid Logichead. Logic Pro crashes frequently when I have third party AU plug-ins open. The crashes happen when I'm using controllers on the AU's GUI, either changing program parameters with knobs or sliders or calling up new presets. I've had this happen with a number of AU's from a number of vendors, so I'm guessing that the AU's are NOT the problem. It must be either Logic Pro itself or OSX's GUI toolkit. The buffer that captures the mouse movements and sends them back to Logic is crashing bigtime. Now, every time I open a 3rd party AU, I save save save like a madman, because I know that if I touch the GUI, the whole program is toast. On a couple of occasions I couldn't re-open the project; I had to revert back to a previous version. Grumble! Grumble! The Black Knight always triumphs! zeronyne
Dan, which plugs are you using, which version of X, and which machine? I'm using 6.4.2 in the latest Panther (10.3.5, I think), and I'm using a ton of third party plugs, and I'm editing the hell out of them with the onscreen GUI. But at one point, I did have a massive amount of problems similar to what you are talking about, but it was with all plug ins...even the native Logic plugs. I had to wipe the drive...repairing permissions and all the other little fixes did not solve it. But after I did, everything worked fine, and does to this day. "For instance" is not proof. cnegrad
Sometimes all it takes is one incompatable plug-in. May I suggest that you try the Logic Users Group at Yahoo?
Superbobus
Is Logic quitting or are you suffering from freezes or panics? http://www.bobwijnen.nl Hipness is not a state of mind, it's a fact of life.
bleen
Dan, what version of LogicPro are you running? Do you have the 6.4.2 updater? As 09 mentioned, what plug-ins are being wonky? Things have been ultra-stable here. recording/mix guy don gunn.com myspace.com/dongunnmusic

Usually, the original file can be re-opened. In once case, I had to close the CS-80V IMMEDIATELY before I did anything else in the reopened file, or it would crash again.
